Apair of political heavyweights on the right side of the aisle witnessed the ends of longstanding and potentially existential court cases against them on Tuesday, setting the stage for their potential resurgences and renewed scrutiny of allegations against prominent figures.
While Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton reached an agreement with prosecutors to drop securities fraud charges after nine years, American Conservative Union head Matt Schlapp saw a former Herschel Walker campaign staffer rescind his claims of sexual battery and defamation and end a civil suit against him.
Paxton has been a legal titan for the American right for years, notably sparring with the Biden administration over his home state's unilateral efforts to protect the southern border amid the unprecedented surge in illegal crossings. Schlapp, meanwhile, is perhaps best known as the organizer of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), one of the largest gatherings of conservative leaders in the country.
"The salacious way in which the Schlapps' material was reported, it was kind of sick and weird," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show. "And you know, it looks like that whole thing was a farce, the claimant has completely run away from his claims."

As to the Schlapp accuser, he is practically admitting he lied.
The purpose of these lawfare cases is to not only drag the targeted victim through the court system - but also to bankrupt them in the process.
I can only imagine how much money those two had to spend to defeat their opponents.
And to defame/publicly embarrass them and to take up a lot of their time and energy (in addition to the monetary costs). These two al9be can wear people down so they give in/give up.
I hope he’s helpful who claims to be a Christian wasn’t invovled in the lie agaisnt schlapp
I think the worst is the public’s mind gets fixated on the charges, gets tired, checks out, and pays no attention to the good conclusion. The damage is done and liberal mission accomplished.
Don’t forget the message that the lawfare sends to others who might want to do the right thing. Do too much good and the left will destroy you too, even if there’s no formal conviction.
Massive countersuits should follow. How about class action against lefty law “schools?
Almost.
My concerns with Trump running. Many believe it won’t stick to him. Still, there is a very powerful mindcontrol effort behind the baby killing effort. They are blaming Trump for all their woes and recent elections in swing states indicate it is enough to matter (perhaps without stealing).
That’s right. That is a huge part of their strategy.
