Kari Lake is asking the court to quickly issue a judgment and to decide how much she will pay Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer in the defamation case he brought against her, according to a filing in Maricopa County Superior Court on Tuesday.
Richer sued Lake — who ran for governor in 2022 and is now running for U.S. Senate — for defamation last year, alleging that Lake made defamatory allegations that he had assisted in rigging the gubernatorial election against Lake. They are both Republicans.
. . . .
Lake’s attorneys do not defend Lake’s claims about Richer in the filing, nor do they challenge any of Richer’s arguments about the facts. Instead, they ask the court for a quick hearing to decide damages.

Does anyone have a better understanding of why she's doing this?
She may not win but she’s a fighter. The rest of the Az. GOP are girlie-men.
She probably views the case as unwinnable and she’d like to get it over with. That was probably what she was advised to do, give it up rather than spend the money that will go towards the judgement anyway.
Yeah....Cuz she can’t take it back. Obviously, she can’t prove a damn thing...and there’s nothing to discover and her attorney is charging her $250 an hour.
I don’t trust Lake. She never did have that recall of the governor. She will probably have the seat she’s running for stolen
If there’s “nothing to discover”, then it was destroyed.
You must trust Hobbs then, who presided over her own election.
She’s either a grifter or nuts. Good luck Arizona
“She may not win but she’s a fighter.”
She is not fighting this. She caved in.
It must be the best legal strategy, the AZ Bar is disbarring lawyers right and well, right.
Regardless of what you may or may not believe about Kari Lake...
Does anyone believe the Dem/McCain GOP establishment to not cheat and hide evidence?
If the elections were legit, the Bureaucrats and Dem/McCain GOP would not have fought so hard against election transparency in the various lawsuits.
If they had nothing to hide...the would have invited the public to review the raw data and hidden workings of the election
A fighter whose going to pay quite a fine. Definitely court costs and who knows how much more.
“She never did have that recall of the governor.“
AZ Law makes it a near impossibility to recall a Governor and with a stinking rat as SOS it would be hopeless.
Votebeat and its parent organizations sure seem like Leftist fronts proclaiming themselves independent...

If she’s lost the case already, discovery is in the rearview miror. Damages are the next step.
“Votebeat and its parent organizations sure seem like Leftist fronts proclaiming themselves independent...”
Frankly, I’d never heard of Votebeat before I saw this story. If you have a reliable source that gives a different take on events, that info would be valuable.
“If she’s lost the case already, discovery is in the rearview miror. Damages are the next step.”
She moved to dismiss. If she had won, the whole case would be over, and in her favor. Instead, though, she lost.
That loss didn’t end the case, though. It meant only that the plaintiff could continue to press his claim. The expectation was that the next step would be discovery, then a trial at which she could present the evidence of fraud.
The strange thing is that her filing cuts off any discovery about her allegations. It also cuts off a trial about the election procedures. Whether or not the jury was convinced, the trial would have been a great opportunity to publicize whatever evidence she had.
She'll go right back to the media...and get a higher paying job now. She's dead in the water.
WTH kind of Lawyer...clone of Abbe Lowell????
I hope that guy suffers a total loss in his jobs.
Fraud denial and defense of Hobbs, who was permitted to run the very election that got her into power in AZ. Even a blind man can see the obvious.
