Biden vows to reopen Baltimore port, rebuild collapsed Key Bridge

President Biden vowed Tuesday to rebuild Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge after it collapsed into the water when a cargo ship rammed into it, echoing what some Maryland officials said earlier but adding that he expects the federal government to foot the bill.

“It’s my intention that the federal government will pay for the entire cost of reconstructing that bridge, and I expect the Congress to support my effort,” Biden said in remarks at the White House. “This is going to take some time, but the people of Baltimore can count on us though to stick with them at every step of the way until the port is reopen and the bridge is rebuilt.”

He said he spoke with Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) on Tuesday morning, as well as Maryland officials including its congressional delegation and two U.S. senators. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg traveled to the Baltimore site.

For Baltimore he issued a quick statement, since he needs Maryland, but for East Palestine he said NOTHING since that area is full of Trump voters, he doesn’t give a rats behind about them

This bridge is near the tunnel. It’s a port bridge and the tunnel can not carry certain items. You aren’t getting it.

“They were built that way partly because those roads weren’t intended for trucks. How does he sleep at night coming up with that crazy shit?”

They were designed for a scenic leisure drive, not a commuter highway. Moses built them for people to travel to his state parks. No commercial traffic allowed on the State Parkways. From time to time a truck will wander off the LIE and get stuck at the first bridge.

According to a new law passed and signed at 4:00 AM last night, the new bridge section will have to be a covered bridge with solar panels lining the roof and windmills on the towers. And the inside will feature murals of DEI Americans.

You must have left out the part about renaming it. It can't keep the same name because Francis Scott Key owned slaves.

No one in their right mind would take the FSK Bridge when driving to DC from Delaware. They would use either the Ft. McHenry tunnel or the Harbor tunnel. Taking the FSK bridge would add about 20 miles for no reason. But then, given his IQ, maybe he did. But he sure didn’t do it when he took the train! What a mendacious, incompetent moron.

“There are many competitors for this position, including Antony Blinken, Merrick Garland, John Kerry, Lloyd Austin, Karine Jean-Pierre ...”

It’s deliberate. It’s “The Producers” of governing. Hire every misfit, malcontent, incompetent, pervert, commie, criminal, miscreant, and Islamist you can find in hopes of the country crashing and burning.

He always bragged about his million miles on Amtrak. Now it turns out he was driving too. I don’t believe it. He has to glom onto every tragedy and make it about him.

Just heard his spokesperson rattle off a list of priorities to rebuild and one was “Environmental Concerns” well this is going to take a long time.

(campaign ad) Joe Biden: Steady leadership in times of crisis

Be ready - it’s coming. And the press has plenty of “free media” that will be provided to puff up Biden’s “leadership” - they will milk this moment for all of it is worth and much more.

What I'm saying is,....doesn't matter...what is...is

And detours are already in effect. I'm not talking about cargo in the tunnel....just rerouting...and everything is moving along.

Maybe they can find some noteworthy black American with a connection to Baltimore, like Frank Robinson.

I could get onboard with that idea.

Did you know that, at his first major league at bat, Frank Robinson hit a ground rule double off of Vinegar Bend Mizell?

“With illegal Mexican laborers.”

And no drug tests for the underemployed blacks of Baltimore.

The ship is, no doubt, insured.

Why ar US taxpayers on the hook for this?

Exactly. Why are the taxpayers fully on the hook for this? That shipping company has insurance and should at least cover part of the reconstruction costs, unless, you want to grift and buy votes in Baltimore.

Will be interesting to watch the comparison between GWB’s response to the I-35 collapse in Minneapolis, and this one.
I-35 was rebuilt under budget, and 10 months ahead of schedule.
Bush expedited all permits, waived most environmental, and bypassed all labor related issues, to get the job done. It was an amazing thing to watch.
