A male volleyball coach at an all-girls New York high school took his own life by stepping in front of a train after being accused of raping a 15-year-old player, officials said.
Jason Maser, 22, was a part-time coach at the Sacred Heart Academy on Long Island when he allegedly raped the teen victim on at least two occasions in his vehicle on February 7 and March 7, the New York Post reported.
After being arraigned on third-degree rape and criminal sex charges and released on $75,000 bail Friday morning, news broke out of the disturbing accusations.

It is certainly possible that the young man committed suicide not out of feelings of guilt but out of feeling his whole life was irreparably ruined by the allegations - once alleged, forever guilty.
Oh there is little doubt.
He’s facing a rape charge, he did engage in sexual activity with the girl... so his life as he knows it as a 22 year old is OVER.
He’ll be labeled a sexual predator for the rest of his life and be on the sexual predator registration list... He’ll never be able to work with kids again, and given he was an assistant coach at 22 clearly looks like that was part of his plan... etc etc.
And if these actions were consensual, (Yes I know a 15 year old can’t consent to a 22 year old legally in NY, but you know what I mean here), that this girl is almost certainly going to be traumatized for the rest of her life as well because of his death.
Again, I am NOT condoning his behavior, but this is a far far cry from a forcible rapist or pedophile here... Yes, he should have been stronger and not done it... but we all have failed tests of character in our lives, all of us at one point or another.
I am very familiar with this school. It is a very expensive and high end private Roman Catholic School on Long Island. A co worker’s daughter attends there . This coworker is very involved at the school. This was a young 22 year old man who had coached elsewhere in the Catholic school system and to coach at Sacred Heart was a prestigious move. Evidently he did not directly coach the 15 year old but he had met her at the volley ball events. They had an “affair” which the girl pursued. THat he should have known better is an understatement. It also gives food for thought that a 22 year old in today’s world generally has not reached any type of maturity level. Look at all the female teachers having affairs with young 16 year olds. If I recall one female teacher had an affair with a 13 year old who she eventually married!!!! This coach was a fool and created more problems for his family and the school by committing suicide. He could not face the consequences of his actions. He was foolish indeed but I do not think he was an evil person. He was a 22 year old, not an dirty old man who forced himself on a girl. IT was a stupid encounter , a profoundly stupid thing to do but even more foolish was to kill himself rather than ask God for forgiveness and change careers.
I went to school with a seventh grader and she was molested by a teacher. She was a real looker. It messed her up. She had an affair with a teacher in high school and he moved somewhere else. She never was able to pair bond in a successful marriage. 15 to 17 year old girls can be really dangerous. I would not want to be alone with one. That is one thing Pence is right about.

Perhaps you think a fifteen year old can sign a contract. Buy a house. Drive a big rig. Get drafted. Drink. Vote.
If not surely you realize that fifteen year old girls are vulnerable idiots (I can say that I was one) and that there is an age of consent for a reason. They can NOT evaluate the risks and rewards of sex with an adult. All the ramifications. They can’t.
Thus it is rape. Even if she was willing. I could convince a fifteen year old to do almost anything.

Very sensitive and historically ignorant of you. A 15 year old female is QUITE capable of wisdom, cunning, scheming, beguiling and everything else. A male can be played by them easily. 15 year old women made up for probably half the wives on the frontier.

And I would bet the ladies here could make a very strong argument that the judgement and maturity of a 15 year old femal and a 22 year old male are not THAT different.

Problem is you’re putting a young hormone-raging guy in a position of authority over young girls who are equally hormone-raging. Throw in scantly dressed attire sweaty locker rooms/showers and the temptation fuse is lit.
As a father of 2 daughters, I don’t think I would have been comfortable with a fresh-out-of-college ‘kid’ only a few years older than my daughters, coaching them. Give me Miss Ballbreaker instead lol.

I think the important distinction between now and then is that I was raised to be an adult. When I hit 21, I knew, in my bones, because that’s how we were raised back then, that I was an ADULT and my students were CHILDREN, and there was a huge wall between us. That social wall seems to have been diminished, to our detriment.
When I was in that situation, a female college student would have interested me. A female high school student was a little kid. And yes, some of them were well developed, but they were still kids.

Your attitude is nasty. I know 15 year olds in the past have proven up. I realize that some can.
So hire one to handle your books. Put them to death for capital crimes. Draft them. Let them vote. Follow through.
But you won’t have them drive your company truck will you? No. Because you know most of them can not handle these things because they are not in fact fully functioning adults yet.
You just think they are hot and want to do them. Sensitive enough for you?
