Super dominant teams never have to lose, learn, or adapt.
Not failing will cause a more disastrous failure further on in life.
There is nothing in our culture that can’t be ruined by greed.

Dexter Manley couldn’t read.

His story as an illustrative microcosm of what is wrong in sports and society.

Exactly why we shouldn’t forget the ‘college’’ part of college athletics

The University of Chicago, once a sports powerhouse, quit sports altogether. It did not die. One could even say it was improved. The Ivy League was a response to the professionalism in college sports. Football won’t die if its importance is diminished. Pro teams will just create their own minor leagues.

What’s to stop a court from obliterating the NFL salary cap, even though it was something the player’s union and owners negotiated and agreed upon?

There should be a rule that athletic scholarships should mirror the gender and race ratios of the University. If 55% are women at the University, then 55% of the athletic scholarships should go to women. If 50% in the University are white, 20% are asians, 15% are black and 15% are hispanic the same ratios should apply to athletic scholarships. You should not be allowed to set admission on race ratios rather than merit, but set athletic scholarships on athletic merit without regard to the race ratios in the University.

I think there’s a good argument to be made that colleges and universities should be institutions of higher learning, not the minor leagues for professional sports. That will probably be considered a medieval opinion nowadays.

College Football is nothing more than an NFL Farm System now.

That'll go over like a lead ballon with the DEI DIE crowd.

A lot of D1 basketball programs will likely go D2, or NAIA.

Fans in cities and wealthy could gave college aged football players a team to join. or more minor leagues. There is no law that says a college should have a football or basketball team Intermural sports might keep those interested, active on campus,.

The whole mess is out of control and will doom sports.
