Yeah, snow on your birthday is NOT a good thing!
AgendaFree is on the air with a bridge collapse in Baltimore. I guess I’ll concentrate on that till I bug out and go to bed. In about an hour probably. I wasn’t planning on this...this late!
He sure did. Later today pickup permitting we will do Chisolm Trail Park.
I was there from 83-85 at the MILSTAR SPO. I was amazed that most of the AF personnel had 4 year stabilized tours there. In fact many would rotate between 3 bases in California and retire without ever leaving the state of CA. Those bases were LAAFS, Norton AFB and Vandenburg AFB.

On May 19, 1967, During McDaniel’s 81st combat mission, his A-6 Intruder was hit by a rocket forcing him and his bombardier-navigator to eject over North Vietnam. McDaniels was captured and interrogated on the ground and ultimately transferred to Hoa Lo Prison, infamously known as the “Hanoi Hilton”.
For three years, McDaniel was listed as Missing in Action while his wife, Dorothy, and three children, Michael, David and Leslie, did not know if he was dead or alive. In 1970, the Hanoi government finally acknowledged that McDaniel was being held prisoner. After six years in captivity as a POW, he was released on March 4, 1973.

Conducting a final walk at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a high honor for a Tomb Guard of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), as is earning the Tomb Guard Identification Badge. However, to do both on the same day is a rare event. That’s just what happened to Staff Sgt. Thomas Tavenner on March 11, 2024.
