U.S. Bank has debanked the Constitution Party of Idaho
March 22, 2024 — The Chairman of the Constitution Party of Idaho (CP-Idaho) received by mail the balance of the party’s funds in the account held with U.S. Bank since 2006, along with a short account closure letter which read,
US BANK — ACCOUNT CLOSURE
Reference number xxxxxx
Dear Constitution Party of Idaho, Advertisement
Enclosed is an official check in the amount of $xxxxxxx for the balance of the above referenced account.

This account has always been in good standing with no overdrafts, no fees, and no complications of any kind. The party had just received a statement the week prior, showing the correct balance and no concerns.
U.S. Bank customer service and local employees were confused, as there were no notes on the account and nothing that would indicate a reason for the closure.
A local branch employee who looked into the issue could say only,
“Yes, the bank just decided to stop doing business with you.”
She could not give any further clarification other than the Constitution Party of Idaho account is closed and is not permitted to open a new account.
With an election cycle just beginning, CP-Idaho has two conventions to host, thousands of letters to send to members, and venues to be secured for events. The need for a bank account is obvious and imperative.
Many banks, especially those in rural areas of Idaho, do not allow accounts to be set up for political parties or political organizations. CP-Idaho must now scramble to find a solution.
Has the Constitution Party of Idaho become such a threat that financial institutions are receiving pressure to try to shut us down?
Debanking should be illegal, and a capital offense, requiring an act of Congress to impose it on an individual entity.
:How Will We Tell the Difference?:
To my knowledge, the Constitution Party has never been associated with illegal activity or any kind of public disruption. Its candidates do best when a RINO gets the Republican nomination. There is something Bidenesque about this, picking on the little guy.
The State of Idaho needs to pull their charter to do business in Idaho
This is a really big deal because it could happen to anyone of us.
That’s the bank that issues the Harley-Davidson HOG Rewards Visa card. I hope the Constitution Party of Idaho is out there making that connection for the people.
