So what happens to whoever owns the house? They’re just s*** out of luck?


Like so much with real estate it’s location, location, location.

Apparently in NYC an owner faces arrest if he or she disturbs the squatters. In much of America LEOs will remove the scum and maybe even rehouse them in the local jail.

In Washington state, you cannot get rid of homeless squatters on your front lawn - one case I read about the homeowner was trying to sell the home but no one would buy it because of the squatter on his front lawn - that 'came with the house.'
