Trump says he’ll decide whether to support a national abortion ban ‘pretty soon’

Former President Trump said Sunday that he will decide “pretty soon” whether to back a national abortion ban.

Trump’s comments come after reports surfaced last month that he is considering embracing a 16-week federal abortion ban for his campaign platform.

“We’re going to find out,” Trump told Fox News host Howard Kurtz on whether he would back the policy. “Pretty soon, I’m gonna be making a decision. I would like to see if we could make both sides happy.”

The Trump campaign pushed back on reports of the policy last month but did not deny that Trump was considering it, instead offering a vague statement saying Trump would “sit down with both sides and negotiate a deal that everyone will be happy with.”

All human life should be protected by all laws. The fact they aren’t show you how far our civilization has never progressed. Pick and choose who lives and dies before they even have a chance to breathe like a bunch of pagans

A federal ban would be unconstitutional.

Don’t do it. Only hard core abortionists are publicizing GOP wanting this. It’s the poison apple.

Exactly. Even I understood this! The whole reason it went back to the states is because it was unconstitutional to begin with.....not a federal issue.

Man walks into the doctor’s office. Doc asks what seems to be the problem? Man says well it hurts when I move like this. Doc says well then don’t do that.

The power to ban or allow abortion is not an enumerated power of the federal government. It has to be worked out at state level.

Up to this point Trump has done more good than harm and that is why I’ve supported him, but at some point, He or Vivek have got sot start honoring constitutional limits on this federal government beast.

What happens if an underage female, whose parents are registered in a State that bans abortion but crosses State lines with whoever in order to murder their unborn occurs? Do you realize States and the Federal government have laws against murder? Doesn't take a genius to understand why that is. Does the unborn deserve to be protected? If so, that is a State along withe a Federal issue just like murder for the same reasons.

18 U.S. Code § 1111 - Murder U.S. Code

(a)Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought. Every murder perpetrated by poison, lying in wait, or any other kind of willful, deliberate, malicious, and premeditated killing; or committed in the perpetration of, or attempt to perpetrate, any arson, escape, murder, kidnapping, treason, espionage, sabotage, aggravated sexual abuse or sexual abuse, child abuse, burglary, or robbery; or perpetrated as part of a pattern or practice of assault or torture against a child or children; or perpetrated from a premeditated design unlawfully and maliciously to effect the death of any human being other than him who is killed, is murder in the first degree. Any other murder is murder in the second degree.

(b)Within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, Whoever is guilty of murder in the first degree shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for life;

Whoever is guilty of murder in the second degree, shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life.

(c)For purposes of this section— (1)the term “assault” has the same meaning as given that term in section 113;

(2)the term “child” means a person who has not attained the age of 18 years and is— (A)under the perpetrator’s care or control; or (B)at least six years younger than the perpetrator; (3)the term “child abuse” means intentionally or knowingly causing death or serious bodily injury to a child; (4)the term “pattern or practice of assault or torture” means assault or torture engaged in on at least two occasions;

(5)the term “serious bodily injury” has the meaning set forth in section 1365; and

(6)the term “torture” means conduct, whether or not committed under the color of law, that otherwise satisfies the definition set forth in section 2340(1).

You can argue murder is a States' Right issue but it's not due to a lot of factors which is why murder is also Federalized.

As an aside, another good thing about it going back to the states is that he doesn’t even have to opine about it any longer! It makes no difference whatsoever what he thinks.

Agree with you, kinda. But then Roe v Wade is back in play. I think you’re conflating issues. Trust me, I’m very much pro-life. But, the abortion issue is a state(s) issue.

So is murder but why is that Federalized? Again, for obvious reasons which would also be the same reasons. Abortion on demand is either murder or not, take your pick, but chose eternally wisely.

Fake news refer to unborn children as either fetus or baby based on nothing more than whether the mother wanted the child or not. That’s the only difference. Pregnant mother loses unborn in a car crash or gunshot it’s a baby. Pregnant mother whacks her unborn the day before delivery in abortion claiming and it’s a fetus.

Stay away from it!! States rights issue not the feds.

For gosh sakes, yes, this!

It's a States rights issue. The POTUS can make suggestions, but the issue belongs to the states; AND it need not be an UBERTRAP for a GOP candidate.

Just like slavery?

People are not property whether they are born or about to be.
