Despite its reputation for gastronomy, France has become an American fast-food mecca. Between 2019 and 2023, more than 1,300 fast-food restaurants opened in the country, and over the past decade, sales increased by 61%. McDonald’s has the biggest stronghold because of its first-mover advantage. But Burger King, Domino’s Pizza, KFC and Five Guys are expanding their reach. New players like Popeyes and Krispy Kreme moved in for the first time in early 2024 as French consumers continue to seek affordable and convenient food options.

Well, our beef is grass fed too, but it’s finished on grain to fatten it up. Do the Europeans not do that?
Many chemicals are prohibited for use on food or as food ingredients in the EU, which we do here.
The French would really love Big Kahuna Burger. Way better than a Royale with Cheese.
When my mom was mad at my dad, she’d make breaded, fried Spam, because he hated it. I hated it, too.
I definitely take more after my dad, which I hear a lot.
I eat a lot less than a lot of people, and my job requires I be remarkably active for what I do, and I don’t often take a break (I’m paid either way). I’d rather get work done. I usually eat one meal a day and fast for 10-14 hours, which is partially because I’m awake from mid-afternoon through the wee morning hours. I’m much smaller than my mother was at my age, but I also haven’t had children. Sadly, not a possibility.
There are many factors, including hormone levels, diet, family history, sex (obviously, men historically have less body fat than women), physical activity, alcohol consumption (how much, type, how often), underlying health conditions (hyper/hypothyroidism, renal failure, etc.), and where you live. If you are in a city and of middle or lower income, you’re probably only eating junk because it’s so expensive to eat healthily.
Popeye’s will make a killing, though. I prefer their chicken over even Brown’s, hands-down.
My grandkids love Spam Musubi. Easy to make, slices of Spam combined with sushi rice and rolled in a seaweed wrap. Very filling.
In the 60s/70s, my English auntie occasionally served calf’s heart with sage and onion stuffing. She braised it for hours to get it tender. It was tasty.
“We would also have beef liver on occasion.”
We had beef liver quite often. I really like it, sauteed with bacon and onions. Never have it now ‘cause Hubby hates it. Also, it’s not very healthy, I’ve been told.
Yes heart. Forgot. We sent it through the grinder d added it to burger
McD's in France has an astonishing bakery w/ all kind of French pastries including French macaroons.
I ate at a McDonald’s in Vienna back in 1979. They had beer on the menu—never have seen that in the US (but I very rarely go to a McDonald’s in the US). I’ve been to a few in Italy which had much better salads than the ones they offer in the US.
I went to back in the 90s in Hong Kong and Jakarta. The fish sandwiches actually were good! I remember an opening of a McDonald’s in Yokutsa, Japan it was like a celebrity was visiting marching band, speeches, etc. I didn’t make the effort to try it.
