It was Somalis then. Who knows what and from where now.

Around 2005 I was working for Dell Computers in Lebanon, Tennessee through a temp agency, happily getting recognized for my talent and eventually utilized as a final product tester. Then Michael Dell thought he'd be Willy Wonka and bring in his personal cadre' of Oompa Loompas - Somalians. Over a hundred all at once, maybe five of them spoke any English and ALL of them Muslim.

Hilarity ensued - not! The business model demanded absolute minimal time between all production stages with clockwork shipping and receiving. These walking scarecrows only observed time when it was Call To Prayers and demanded that be observed.

Dell adjusted schedules for them, gave them a huge room to pray in, altered the cafeteria procedures to insure "halal" and...threw in the towel when they demanded representation in administration.

Dell closed up the shop, fired everyone and moved his best people to North Carolina (I think).

Moral of the story: Only Willy Wonka can import Oompa Loompas successfully...and he's fictional.

Thanks for the sad tale of Dell. It’s just one of many. Whenever these companies try to placate and accommodate these invaders, they lose in the end. Instead of the foreigners assimilating to American work standards and policies, they demand, and are given special treatment. I was told a long time ago that you don’t do for one, what you can’t, or won’t do for all, but obviously that rule is unknown or practiced here today. I remember one meat packing company a while back, not sure if it was Tyson, Swift, or some other one, but they provided a special area so the muzzies could wash their feet, which is a ritual they partake in prior to praying while on the clock.
