New York City shelters are overwhelmed with migrants...
But for companies like Tyson Foods Inc., struggling to fill unpopular jobs with a U.S. unemployment rate of 3.9%, this new population presents an alluring opportunity.
The food processing company wants to hire 52,000 asylum seekers for factory jobs, offering a starting wage of $16.50 per hour along with benefits. The company understands and is aware that these are jobs that many find unpleasant, such as washing meat, placing the cuts into trays, final inspections for bones and packing meat, but believe this will help the refugees to start a life in America.
For example, the company says that it has allocated $1.5 million a year for legal aid services and will be providing its new employees with temporary housing, on-site child care, transportation, a relocation stipend, and paid time off to attend court hearings and to adjust to their new homes.
The company joined forces with the nonprofit Tent Partnership for Refugees, a network of over 400 major companies committed to helping refugees find jobs, with the plan to hire as many people as possible from the more than 180,000 asylum seekers that have come through New York City’s shelter system. Tyson, for example, already employs about 42,000 immigrants.
According to an Economic Policy Institute analysis of federal data, about 50% of the labor market’s recent growth came from foreign-born workers between January 2023 and January 2024.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said last week that immigration and labor participation contributed to economic strength.
"The immigration that we saw was a notable factor of 2023 and 2024 economic outcomes, and of course we're aware of that, and it plays a role in our way of thinking about economic policy and in the path of the economy," Powell said.

I live in Rogers, AR with Tyson HQ to my south in Springdale, and WalMart to my North in Bentonville. Tyson did this same thing in the early ‘90’s; busing in hundreds of illegals from the southern border. Got rid of most of the white workers and replaced them with illegals.
Demographics changed almost overnight; some positive, some not. Lots of Mexican entrepreneurial benefits, but lots of domestic abuse and DWI’s. Some of the apartment complexes here were no-go zones.
Somalies!
I couldn’t think of a more incompatible bunch that Somalies.
We have Mexicans where I work but they are not illegals.
I like Mexican food.
I recall reading about it last year or the year before, and that they immediately shut down one of the plants they bought. I believe it was on FR.
Unemployment rates are closer to 14% than 4.
Ditto
Then I want to not eat any Tyson products.
There was a huge uproar when the Somalis started showing up in droves. It isn’t a large town and they weren’t prepared at all for the influx that hit.
We have all kinds of little brown people in the county I live in but who knows what countries they came from? I have no clue where they’re living because there’s nothing BUT small towns here. Very small towns.
Tyson chicken is in Marshal County, Alabama. That county is now half Latino. Happened in the last 15 years.
The super wealthy business owners, the elites etc, all have home and yard servants. They want cheap labor and they don’t give two sh*ts if they’re here illegally. They love illegals! They work cheap!
You’re totally not.
The Cheap Labor Express at work.
Apparently illegals get nice small biz loans, too.
Government and Big Business is always willing to give a hand up to help illegals and criminals get started, but not high school kids looking for a good start.
You got it. That’s exactly what it is.
I want to find a new food supplier and hope that Tyson Foods goes belly up!

Give a job? You got it all wrong. I don’t give jobs, I hire men.......
And for that I’ll pay you a fair day’s wage. You won’t give me anything and I won’t give you anything. We both hold up our heads.
Tyson has been banned in my house since the mid-90s after I learned it was a major supporter of the Clintons.
I didn’t buy Tyson for years when bill and Hilary were elected. Tyson and more were buddies in Arkansas and trips at Mena Airport.
Bill had been a governor like no other governor.. They carried their ways to Washington DC.. Much of it was played out in the news..
I remember years ago there was Mississippi chicken plant that employed illegals. They said the same thing about them. When ICE raided the place and arrested the workers (I SAID this was years ago), the line of locals hoping to be hired to replace them stretched for blocks.
Damn Aldis chicken under the “Kirkwood” name is Tyson...I had some for dinner yesterday...ANYWAY the underlying problem is the pussification of how WE as Carnivores like to consume! GOD gave us this meat....use it all and try not to waste.. IF you cant handle a slaughter house then you should try downing a steer by yourself and then trimming it up?
