The U.S. military port that is intended to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza is expected to take up to two months to construct and requires over 1,000 U.S. servicemembers to complete, the Pentagon said.
In a press conference on Friday, Press secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters that that port would take at least 1,000 U.S. forces.
"We anticipate that it'll take over 1,000 U.S. forces to participate in building this capability," Ryder said.
"As far as time frame, several weeks, likely up to 60 days in order to deploy the forces and construct the causeway and the pier," he said.

Hopefully, but doubtful, the aid will find it’s way to IDF.
WTH are we doing this? WTH has this was taken so long? That teeny weeny little strip of land is the same size as Las Vegas but this war has lasted 5 months with no end in sight.
It will be destroyed by IDF.
60 days to build. About 10 days of hamasatarian supplies, then Iran begins delivering the new missiles and terrorists. Israel will end up blowing this to bits.
You ask why?

Gotta placate his base before the election.
Send all of the woke ones. Let’s see how Moslem terrorists respond.
Who will survey, construct, maintain, and supervise the on-shore infrastructure to offload the ships, store supplies, and distribute?
Hint: it won’t be hamas. It won’t be any Arabs. It won’t be any Europeans. Maybe Russians? Maybe Israelis?
Maybe U.S. ...
The Turks will undoubtedly send ‘aid’ to Gaza.
Highly unlikely that they will dock in Cyprus for inspection.
When they send their ‘aid’ armaments to Gaza, they will scream and shout about the West “denying humanitarian assistance”.
Israel will need to inspect maritime shipments into and out of Gaza. This adds a seaborne headache to Israel’s military planning.
Joe Bite-Me’s unilateral decision to build a ‘temporary port’ will blow up in our collective faces. It puts U.S. troops in harm’s way, expands a new front for Israel in the war, offers opportunities for malign actors (Lebanon/Hizb’allah, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Russia, etc.) to resume arms shipments to hamas, and will provide propaganda material to the bad guys.

That’s my read. We’ll see how it plays out... ;)
The Gaza City ‘port’ is a glorified marina for medium-sized fishing boats. Not suitable for Port Operations.
The Turks tried to break an Israeli blockade years ago. It ended badly for them. Their ships were boarded, scuffles broke out and several people died.
Turkey may try some crap again, but right now they have nowhere to go. We won’t let them use this offshort port. And they can’t deliver directly because Israel has severely damaged Gaza’s little seaport/marina. Maybe you can run a dinghy to the shore if you get past Israel’s navy but you can’t do or delivery much on a dinghy. Otherwise there is no place to bring a boat and I doubt we will let the Turks use it. And I doubt Israel will let them even get close to trying.
