The U.S. military port that is intended to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza is expected to take up to two months to construct and requires over 1,000 U.S. servicemembers to complete, the Pentagon said.
In a press conference on Friday, Press secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters that that port would take at least 1,000 U.S. forces.
"We anticipate that it'll take over 1,000 U.S. forces to participate in building this capability," Ryder said.
"As far as time frame, several weeks, likely up to 60 days in order to deploy the forces and construct the causeway and the pier," he said.

Just another several billion down the drain.
They should airdrop it.
And we can’t even secure the perimeter in Gaza.
I wonder if the new port could meet a similar fate of say perhaps a certain recent mysterious underwater pipeline sabotage...
I’ve always thought
(and offered a before
suggestion), that the
people of Gaza should be
offered their own island
60 miles oof Isreals coast,
built from the debris of
their war torn cities.
A one island solution.
oof=off
Oof.....
A thousand troops yet just yesterday Biden said no US troops.
BTW, when did the US switch sides from Israel to HAMAS, which still holds US hostages?
How many troops will Bidet send to our southern border?
Is Gaza not sovereign Israeli territory, or did I miss something here...?
This is stupid. Israel and Egypt already have land access to Gaza. If it’s truly a humanitarian crisis and people are starving to death, then the best way to deliver aid is through the existing borders.
Of course there is a problem - Hamas. The world needs to stop coddling them with this whatboutisms and moral equivalencies. Hamas is a suicide cult that is willing to kill their own people for a genocidal ideology. The “adults in the room” need to speak truth to their far left base and stop playing domestic politics with ridiculous sideshows. Hamas should surrender, lay down their arms, and plenty of food and medicine will flood into Gaza without having to build a seaport over two months.
And anyone with a lick of sense can see what this really means. It means we - the US and Western (and Arab) Allies - have no intention of “stopping” Israel. No cease fire is coming. The only way out is for Hamas to surrender. But they won’t say that part out loud because they are not “adults” they are cowards trying to appease everyone. The politics of this tactic are doomed to fail.
Why no pressure on Arab states to take in Gaza refugees?
Israel is fine with this. The aid will go to Cyprus where Israeli officials will inspect it before it goes to Gaza. Israel and Cyprus are partners in a major gas pipeline project to bring natgas to Europe so they are natural allies in this respect. They have cooperation in place.
But more than that, under the surface it means that there will be no serious pressure to relent in the pursuit of eliminating Hamas. The only real “objections” to the war are the civilian deaths and the humanitarian aid. Take the humanitarian aid issue off the table and Hamas loses half their PR propaganda. And watch how this plays out on the ground. The people will naturally gravitate towards the aid. But Israel controls the ground. So the civilians will move out of the way making room for Israel to make the last push onto Rafah and southern Gaza to eliminate Hamas and, find the hostages, and dismantle the tunnels and weapons caches.
That’s my read of the endgame. We’ll see how it plays out.
Israel should allow for safe passage to the Sinai desert where people can be carefully vetted in the wide open spaces in refugee camps and all of the humanitarian aid administered to the refugees. U
Port construction is a labor intensive affair which will quickly become a target for Hamas and every belligerent in the area. Let’s hope it does not also become a trigger for US involvement.
Probably Will be a CIA front
Let’s go Brandon.
The aid for Germany came AFTER they surrendered. How many Americans thought we should provide aid to the Nazis before they were defeated? These people have been fed a diet of hate their whole lives. Might as well send help to Demons
Nobody will ask where the aid goes to.
Don’t we all figure the aid will go to Hamas only?
