Sen. Katie Britt's, R-Ala., official Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Thursday night turned heads — but not for any of the right reasons.
The freshman senator's high-profile rebuttal was stern in its focus on immigration and the state of the economy — two key sticking points against the president — but had a bizarre delivery, according to The Daily Beast. Its dramatic cadence and beige-toned kitchen backdrop left political operatives and observers unsure of what to make of it.
Britt's performance was so unnerving that some Republicans watched "with a grimace," the Daily Beast reports. A GOP strategist even told the outlet that gossip about Britt's delivery quickly circulated among operatives connected to Donald Trump, which could have an impact on her consideration as his running mate.

Actually, she came across as a normal woman, not some leftist, neurotic freak.
Both content and delivery are important.
I want her to improve her delivery.
She is a first term US Senator and 42 years old.
I want her to hear the criticism, learn from it and become a superstar.
I was on the debate teams in high school and college.
Our coaches were harsh on us when we messed up—and we made major improvements as a result.
If you saw us at the first tournament at the beginning of the year vs the last tournament of the year you would be stunned at the improvement.
Public speaking is a skill like anything else—everybody makes lots of mistakes but with honest and tough criticism they learn and get a lot better over time.

That is the God’s honest truth of the matter. We know who their “supposed target audience” was... but it came off as a leftist-like gimmick, instead. Which tells me it was the “e” part of the GOP that made the decision for Britt to deliver that response.
In my humble opinion, it should have been delivered by someone more convincing, more forceful and less gimmicky. If the women of America...ie the “soccer moms”.... really want a Marxist regime that does nothing but make things more expensive, more destructive, and less safe over someone that actually loves this country and has a solid record of improving the economy, the national defense and military and securing the border... then no amount of appealing to them via a gimmicky speech by a “gentle female figure” will convince them otherwise.

This rebuttal sounds more like a SNL skit, than a strong response....that was what is needed.
I would prefer Kari Lake or Byron Donalds to have given the rebuttal.

Someone commented that her sad points were truly awkwardly juxtaposed, against her odd smiles, then, flashing to a fake ‘cry’/weepiness.
Her breathy to whiney speaking cadence and expressions are odd.
She didn’t even call out Briben for calling Laken Riley “Lincoln” Riley....he couldn’t even get Laken’s name right, yet, she gave him a pass :-(
I watched it/parts of it, a few times.
Ugh. The delivery was definitely cringe. Any good points were diminished, by her odd tone/whispering and cracking, breathy, and, creepy sounding voice.
I almost expected her to quote Sally Field, and, say “You like me...you really like me!”
I found a lot of mixed reactions to her when reading comments from the conservative side last night. Some people hated her delivery and others liked it. It thought it was maybe a little too emotional, but not all that bad either.
She needs to fire her speech writer and speech coach.
She didn’t tell LIES UNLIKE BIDEN.
I thought Sarah Sanders did a great job.
I thought maybe she would get up, start chopping some onions and carrots, start a pot of chicken soup, weaving some recipe tips in with her rebuttal.

Women seem to be very tough critics of women in politics. It’s not as easy as it looks.
