What little we know of the administration's plan to build a port and causeway to deliver aid to Gazans raises serious questions about the safety of American troops involved in the project.
This is a project of stupendous scale involving hundreds of thousands of American military personnel, the participation of several other nations in the region, and possibly even Israeli assistance.
It would also expose American naval vessels and personnel to hostile fire from any number of sources. The Navy is planning for these eventualities and has long experience covering operations of this kind.
The port will take 30-60 days to build, assuming there are no major delays.
Tonight, Biden will look into the camera and solemnly swear that no American troops will set foot in Gaza. I wonder how he can make such a promise. Unless the Israelis pledge to protect the port from attack once it's in place, the job will be left to Egypt. And Cairo doesn't want the headaches any more than Israel does.

Biden (i.e., Obama) has been so bold to FLY over a quarter million into the US. I think he’d dock a ship somewhere at a military base (maybe Naval Station Newport) and offload them into waiting aircraft.
I think that the White House cameras will not show the guns pointing at Congress.

Are we doing this because Netanyahu refuses to allow us to land food for the Palestinian civilians he is starving in Israel and to truck it across Israeli land? Good point. AND the Chinese run (own?) the Panama Canal and would be happy to have “refugee” ships transit the canal to the west coast ports.

For decades Israel has stopped Iranian attempts to deliver shipments to Hamas on the Gaza coast. Both above and under water, Israel has the ability to detain and/or and destroy any such activity.
Perhaps the forces of all that is good will use the democRAT method to delay this insanity. Get nonprofits and NGOs to sue and insist upon endless environmental studies before anything can begin. A brand new, indigenous Gazan tribe could be ‘discovered.’ While they’re at it, the water off the Gaza coast will need to be thoroughly studied. Endangered fish and plant species will need to be kept safe before anything else can proceed. If the indigenous Gaza tribe and the endangered fish are culturally intertwined, the short and long-term impact of ANY activity will need even further study.
And finally, the indigenous Gaza tribe’s rights to no cigarette taxes and casino/gaming operations will have to be firmly established.
