I’m a Baptist pastor. White Christian nationalism is the opposite of Jesus’ teaching
Kansas City Star ^ | MARCH 06, 2024 | STEPHEN D. JONES

Posted on 03/06/2024 2:57:43 PM PST by artichokegrower

I am writing as a Christian pastor — a Baptist, no less — serving churches for the past 52 years. Of course, I favor Christianity. And in my ministry, I invite persons to consider faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, it may seem surprising that I am a leader of an effort in Kansas City during this election year to resist White Christian nationalism. White Christian nationalism does not invite people into faith, but rather seeks to dominate, control and coerce not only individuals, but society.

I don’t necessarily disagree but he “favors “ Christianity.

That struck me as well. As a lad, I attended a private school run by Southern Baptists. I don’t recall hearing any Baptist preacher merely ‘favoring’ Christianity. Everyone who wasn’t born again, most especially Catholics, were going to burn in Hell for eternity. But this was in the 50s when people who became pastors/priests actually acted as if they believed what they were preaching.

--- "White Christian Nationalism is a liberal construct."

Indeed.

From their website: ""You may notice that we are a smaller congregation in a large building. We were larger much earlier in our history. But we could not be the racially-inclusive congregation of today if we had remained a large Euro-American congregation. We believe God has re-shaped us for ministry in the 21st century! We are a single-cell congregation. Everyone is friends with everyone else."

An Uncommon Church!

Translation: A lot of moneyed folks walked away and took their "green" with them.

Euro-American is bad? Idiocy. Offensive to use skin color and ethnic background to characterize people.

This was a campaign year op-ed designed to say that there is a "thing" and it is indeed "a liberal construct."

Logic.

Would it be okay if Mormons or Scientologists forced everyone to live by their religious code?

Yep, these idiots are coming out now. Until lately, no one had ever heard of white Christian nationalism, and now it played up to be the main thing going.

So now whites have another burden handed to them to prove they are not racists. The only pathway for personal cleansing — vote for Biden and national suicide. And when they are loaded into cattle cars, they can comfort themselves that they are not racist.

I saw a bunch of quotes from our Founders the other day. They certainly would have been called white Christian nationalists — Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, even John F Kennedy.

I like how he establishes his credibility: I Am a Baptist Pastor. He left off, therefore, I am right and you are wrong. I have known a lot of pastors that I wouldn’t trust to do anything.

You gave the definition of a theocracy. Perhaps if I ask you in a more simplistic piece meal manner. What is white? What is Christian? What is nationalism? Now tie those all together and tell me how that is a threat?

No one is saying it isn’t ok to be white, Christian or American.

BS!

Pay attention.

You got the point. Excellent.

Which denomination of Christianity would the country be forced to follow.

Threads about doctrine here always devolve into arguments and name calling.

His fellow pastor at this Baptist Church? “Rev. Dezo Schreiner is originally from the beautiful Caribbean country of Haiti. She moved to Lawrence, KS in 2011 for advanced schooling...”

Another? “Rev. Stephanie Parham has worked full-time as a microbiologist, while at the same time earning her Master’s of Divinity degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary (CBTS), which she completed in 2022. She was ordained with an American Baptist recognized ordination...”

He was President of the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America: “It seeks to gather, equip and mobilize peacemakers of faith across North America and beyond to engage in the work of peace rooted in justice. BPFNA-Bautistas por la Paz provides resources and tools on a variety of social justice issues such as racial justice, justice for migrants and refugees, climate/environmental justice, justice for indigenous and native peoples and LGBTQ+ liberation to name a few.” - Wiki

He was co-chair of MORE2 (Metropolitan Organization for Racial and Economic Equity) - “a social justice organization representing different faith traditions, cultural backgrounds, races, and economic means.”

Social Justice Warrior first. Jesus falls far behind...

“They think like women generally.” There are three pastors at his church. Two are women. The third, the author, seems to be a eunuch...or at least, “Low-T”.

Well, Christian nationalism is just a faux idea thought up by Democrats.

It's a euphemism for "Whites in flyover country who won't vote for Democrats."

It’s okay to insult and run away.

Go to your safe space.

Everything is fine.

Another “Pastor”?

Hey, Steve, you’re just a man.
And the half the country disagrees with you.

So stuff your appeal from a Higher Authority ( those hot dogs used to preach) folks don’t believe you.
