Republican Ted Cruz is neck and neck with his expected Democratic challenger in the race for the Texas Senate seat, according to a poll.
A University of Texas at Tyler (UTT) survey found that incumbent Cruz and Texas Representative Colin Allred, the current frontrunner to be Democratic challenger in November's Senate election, are both tied on 41 percent when potential voters are asked who they may support in the race, with 12 percent saying they are still unsure.

There are 3 Senatorial candidates on my local election ballot sample for Tuesday.
Ted Cruz is the only person on the GOP Ballot that will win.
I don’t know what dip stick the #ComDems will nominate, but they will lose.
There are a lot of things happening in the background to stop voter fraud.
Get a life? What are you in eighth grade?
Ted Cruz is tone deaf. He completely alienated Trump in 1016, for what purpose.
Cruz actually lost the native Texan vote. Transplants carried him across the finish line.
His fellow senators feel the same way, but sometimes the icky outsider can raise concerns that the more accepted member of the club don't dare.
One senator can’t do much on his own. Cruz was willing to go out on a limb earlier, but now he has to worry about reelection, so he’s quieter, but he’s still a reliable conservative vote.
....being a former student at UT/Austin, and having lived amongst Austin Liberals for 30 years, I can inform Freepers without reservation that this poll, performed by UT Students and professors who are thoroughly liberal, if not communists, should be reliably deemed to be totally bias in favor of the democratic rival.
1016 is ancient — or at least medieval — history by now.
I haven’t seen Cruz undercutting Trump or Trump resenting anything Cruz has said or done since then.
Trump and Cruz have probably put all that behind them now and moved on.
Cruz is better than Cornyn. But he still voted to send billions to Ukraine and to extend FISA.
I could give a sh*t where Cruz went during Ice Station Tejas. Was he supposed to deliver firewood for a photo-op? I’m a native Texan and he is head and shoulders above Cornyn and All-Red.
Illegals will vote for the democrat. I Don think a Republican wins where it matters ever again.
I could care less too, but it bothers 90% of his voters, which made it a TOTALLY IDIOTIC thing to do.
Yeah yeah yeah, and at this point Beto was leading in the polls, and he loses every time.
Why has Texas not already flipped to the Democrats?
Hispanics - 40.2%
Whites - 39.8%
Blacks - 13.4%
Not clear if those numbers are from 2020, 2022, or 2023.
If those numbers are from 2020, the GOP is already dead!
Why did he lose the native Texan vote ? I thought he was a popular conservative in TX.
Because at least 50% of native Texans are non-white.
Demography is destiny in the voting booth.
A lot of those Hispanics have been in Texas for a very long time and vote Republican.
I live in TX. While the poll might be inaccurate there are tons of foreigners now living here. It’s not as slam dunk conservative majority as previously.
About 60% of Texas Hispanics vote Democrat in U.S. Senate and Governor elections.
Black Texans vote 80% Democrat - or higher.
Any state wide Texas candidate who is perceived to be a Conservative is staring at a 50-50 election in 2024.
Cruz will need to get close to 70% of the white vote to win reelection.
I’m 76. I’ve been many places. Known a lot of amazing people.
I remember Trump and Cruz. Cruz’s backer’s then were anti Trumpers.
Cruz is well educated, his father was a preacher (not primary job).
Time you speak of was 2016, not 1016.
Cruz has a lot to answer for.
