Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Rejects Proposal to Raise Governor’s Salary
Breitbart ^ | 03/01/2024 | HANNAH BLEAU KNUDSEN

Posted on 03/01/2024 1:35:08 PM PST by ChicagoConservative27

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has rejected a proposal to raise the governor’s salary with a three percent increase in the 2025 budget, asserting that an increase is “appropriate for others given the persistent inflation” but not for the governor’s salary.

“I’ve spoken to legislative leaders and asked that they remove a proposed 3% increase for the Governor’s salary in next year’s budget,” DeSantis said in a statement posted to X.

“While this increase is appropriate for others given the persistent inflation in the US economy, it is best to leave the Governor’s salary as is,” he said, garnering praise from several commenters who commended him for setting the “right example”:

I’ve spoken to legislative leaders and asked that they remove a proposed 3% increase for the Governor’s salary in next year’s budget.

While this increase is appropriate for others given the persistent inflation in the US economy, it is best to leave the Governor’s salary as is.

Trump has divided the Gop with vicious attacks on
tdesantis and Hailey .

He wasn’t even a Republican in 2012 .

The gop turn out has been low .
Plan to leave the country in 24 if you can .Sadly , I suspect the Dems will sweep l

Clear? Base on polling Trump beats FJB handily. Whether he can get enough to overcome the cheating is not yet known. And that has nothing to do with people hating Trump.

You shouldn't fall for that crap narrative that everyone hates him. That's clearly not true, and for so called conservatives to buy into that nonsense is worse than stupid.

“There is nothing in what he did that shows he can run a successful campaign again.”

The GOP establishment must have said the same thing when Reagan lost in the primary against the incumbent Ford.

The silk-stocking Republicans never forgave Reagan.

I dislike. The governor’s salary should not be less than the Lt governor’s salary, which it will be if they listen to Ron. If he doesn’t want the increase he can donate it to charity.

Trump Cultist seething Hate of a true conservative is Sad. And Donnie the Queens sleazy developer Tried to Stick All FL residents with 5 Million of his Personal Legal Fees . Desantis stopped this yankee carpet bagger move .

mysuncoast.com

Trump didn't create the bill. Contributions were voluntary. Qualified recipients would be any resident of Florida running for president who is a victim of a political prosecution by the Deep State, and that incudes DeSantis in '28.

Your "sething hate" of such a Deep State fighter as Trump is "sad".

No comparison.

RDS will never have the charisma or smarts that Reagan did. Nor the political savvy. And certainly not the Reagan clarity of what is the right way to lead the country

“I like”

Me too. Generally, I don’t mind paying politicians a decent wage, considering what they often have to endure, but it’s ALWAYS GOOD to send a message of fiscal responsibility, as Ron is doing here.

DeSantis is delivering a conservative agenda. Why does that bother you so much?

“It was not necessary for the press to destroy DeSantis. Donald Trump did that job, by unleashing $25M in despicable attack ads, that started airing shortly after DeSantis’ historic re-election in Nov. 2022. Ironically, Trump’s attack ads were from the left! (”DeSantis will destroy Social Security, etc.”)”

Trump’s pitiful little $25 million ads would be nothing compared to the entire mainstream media and DOJ attacks. If that’s what really destroyed his candidacy he wouldn’t stand a chance in a general election. I like Desantis, but I think he self destructed, starting with deciding to run against Trump.

it’s only because the press has not seen the need to try destroy him yet.

Trump did that himself cuz only he can run for president like he has in 2000, 2016, 2020 and 2024. If he fails, 2028.

Probably not. But he’s a hell of a conservative governor compared to Reagan as governor.

Building on what you said, no one alive today could match Reagan's clarity of what is the right way to lead the country.

But I do like what America's Governor is doing to toss out corrupt prosecutors, end state university DEI programs, ending Disney's sweetheart deal to build a nuclear power plant without state oversight, his refusal to suck-up to Bud-Light, sending troops to help Texas without Biden's approval, creating a welcoming state for American refugees fleeing New York terror, flipping Florida's voter registrations from blue to red, building the state's financial reserves last year by - what was it - ten billion dollars, and on and on.

if he were truly a conservative he would not accept the pay for governorship, since he hasn’t secure FL borders in all his years as governor. by his inaction he has cost lives and done great harm to numerous Floridians and people around the country as he shipped some to other state and allowed them to wander thru Fl into other states. Ron is not a good governor, in the sense of truly doing right by his oath to protect Floridians from those who should never have been allowed to enter it’s borders.

I think you forgot to mention his role in tooth decay and turning loose hurricanes in nearby waters. And look at the Yankees smarming all over.

Oh, stuff it. DeSantis is bringing the hammer down on illegals in Florida.

Meanwhile, Trump on his final day in office opened the border to Venezuelans.
