White House: Inflation ‘Very Close to Normal’ and Prices ‘Moving in the Right Direction’ — But They’ll Go Up
Breitbart ^ | 03/01/2024 | IAN HANCHETT

Posted on 03/01/2024 6:06:05 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

During an interview with ABC News on Thursday, White House Senior Adviser Gene Sperling stated that “people have been through a tough few years” but the PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures) price index reading is “very close to normal” and “prices are moving in the right direction” and “moderating.” But you can’t expect them to not go up.

Sperling said, “It’s been a tough few years since the pandemic,” but “inflation is coming down. In fact, it was really 2.4% in this measure, 2.8% if you don’t include food and gas. And that’s not good enough, but it is very close to normal. And there are a lot of different areas where you have seen prices come down.”

He added, “I think people have been through a tough few years and they went through 2022 when you had the variants and the global economy was getting back and you had supply chain issues and they saw prices come up. And I think it’s reasonable for people to feel like it’s been a somewhat rough few years. And there may be a lag in people starting to say, hey, now I do see that prices are moving in the right direction. And sometimes you have things like eggs or lettuce or milk where prices are going down. People say, yeah, but they’re still higher than they were, and I respect that. What I want them to know, though, is that it’s still worth understanding the facts and it’s not wrong to communicate facts about prices are moderating.”

Not only do food prices go up. The size of everything is shrinking.

I don’t by potato chips, but I noticed 5 dollars for a half of what they call large size.

"Moving in the right direction"? Really? That's an odd statement considered next to this headline: Worst Monthly Spike of “Core Services” PCE Inflation in 22 Years (Will This Lead The Fed To Hike Rates?)

Guess the FED is lying. Must be. The white hut never lies. Do they?

I just paid $6.75 for a 4-pk of Valetta Mac and Cheese. Once one of the cheapest eats in the supermarket.

Wow, we never got down below $3.50- we are now $3.59.

When trump left office, gas was under $2 in most places. We were $2.16 or so at our lowest. In just one year under obiden, gas jumped to newrly $4.50- which is $2.34 cents higher-

The only thing that changed was that obiden stopped oil and the pipeline, making us dependent on foreign oil again. The left love to say “demand increased, which raised gas prices” but that is crap- Trump got prices down from when oblama was president- significantly! Even though demand grew under Trumps presidency.

The price of everything is up- not just food and gas. Transportation costs and shipping costs have elevated the price of everything. Thr left are just habitual liars- they should get right with God because the Bible states that liars (unsaved liars) who make lying their life’s goal daily, will not enter heaven.

[[Housing prices are soaring.

Car prices are soaring

Food prices go up every time I go to buy groceries

Energy costs are soaring

Fuel costs are still much higher than under Trump

Even the dollar state is $1.25]]

If we just throw all these out, don’t count them, then “prices are dropping” according to the wh expurts

I used to get 12 packs of Pepsi for around $3 when Trump was in office- made it about .25 cents a can- now it is about $9 a 12 pack too- making it about almost .80 a can

Yes. The Left has cultivated/groomed stupid/ignorant people via the public schools, for decades. These are the low-info voters Trump has referred to in the past. If they had any intellectual curiosity or logic & reasoning skills, they wouldn’t vote “D”.

Federal agencies these days lie so much and so often (with impunity) that there needs to be legislation that will criminalize lying by individuals and department heads (to the press, or selective leaking) with severe/immediate penalties for violators.

An impromptu firing squad or tree limb/rope would be ok with me.

Inflation is a cruel tax that compounds its cruelty like a frog in a pot where the heat is slowly applied.
