(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a federal lawsuit against the Illinois State Board of Elections and its Executive Director, Bernadette Matthews, over their failure to clean Illinois’ voter rolls and to produce election-related records as required by federal law, the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) (Judicial Watch Inc. et al. v. Illinois State Board of Elections et al.(No. 1:24-cv-01867)). The lawsuit requests the court to require Illinois to “develop and implement a general program that makes a reasonable effort to remove the registrations of ineligible registrants from the voter rolls.” ...
The Illinois DEMS made a law that keeps dead people on the rolls for 2 years. I hope that one will be overturned.
Now there’s a bill that just passed out of committee to make Illinois a mail in state without proof of residency.
HB4198 provides that each election authority may decide to mail a LIVE vote by mail ballot to all qualified voters instead of sending notices and applications for permanent vote by mail status.
A person who has never voted before may not be sent a vote by mail ballot until that person has provided the election authority with sufficient proof of identity and the election authority has verified the person’s proof of identity.
Presumably, some Election authorities may decide to continue running elections the way they have been doing. Thus, resulting in unequal treatment based on where someone lives. More importantly, vote by mail is the least secure way to vote!
