Judicial Watch Sues Illinois to Force Clean Up of Voting Rolls

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a federal lawsuit against the Illinois State Board of Elections and its Executive Director, Bernadette Matthews, over their failure to clean Illinois’ voter rolls and to produce election-related records as required by federal law, the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) (Judicial Watch Inc. et al. v. Illinois State Board of Elections et al.(No. 1:24-cv-01867)). The lawsuit requests the court to require Illinois to “develop and implement a general program that makes a reasonable effort to remove the registrations of ineligible registrants from the voter rolls.”

(Legal pressure from Judicial Watch ultimately led to the removal of up to four million ineligible voters from voter rolls in New York, California, Pennsylvania, Colorado, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, and elsewhere.)

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on behalf of Judicial Watch and the nonprofit organizations Illinois Family Action and Breakthrough Ideas, and Carol J. Davis, who is a lawfully registered voter in Illinois.

Good for Judicial Watch.

The voter rolls in almost all states has been corrupted for decades. The GOP ignores it or is complicit in the fraud because often times it benefits their own re-election. It takes Judicial Watch and other voter groups to get the rolls cleaned-up.

Cleaning up the voter roles in Chicago alone will take a decade.

Judicial Watch and other groups like PILF and individuals like Scott Presler are doing great things for little or no money.

Where is the RNC?

Yes, Judicial Watch wins:

From The Federalist: Los Angeles County, California confirmed it had removed 1.2 million ineligible voters from its rolls thanks to a settlement with the conservative advocacy group Judicial Watch...

They also got a lot of names removed from the DC voter rolls (not that it matters much considering DC is so heavily Democrat).

Some other wins too.

At least they’re doing something. Some of these cases took years. RNC is doing nothing.

Grew up in the Chicago suburbs.

By the time I was in the 4th grade, I knew that dead people could vote and that was in the 60s!!

I’m in Winnebago County. I would love to know how corrupt the voter rolls are here.

At least they're trying - what is the GOP doing about election fraud? Zilch.

It takes Judicial Watch and other voter groups to get the rolls cleaned-up.

Even if they get a court order, they likely will not get the rolls cleaned up. Seems like they can slow roll any action they want with no retribution. In any case it won't be resolved before the election.

If every crooked, corrupt vote handling entity were brought to justice we would have a totally better country——and a lot of new people in prison.

Worth a try.

Absolutely good for Judicial Watch the only bad thing about this story is that it’s not repeated dozens of more times all around the country because dirty voter rolls are at the heart of how the Democrats cheat
