The transcript link isn't working. In brief, Israel is using the maritime oil field agreement with Lebanon as leverage to force the Lebanese government to either put a muzzle on Hizbollah and get them to cut out the attacks or get rid of them.
Nash says "without firing a bullet".

Live updates: Missile hits Meron air traffic control base
Live updates:
Tuesday, 9:28 p.m.: Following the sirens that sounded in northern Israel earlier today, approximately 20 launches were identified crossing from Lebanon into northern Israel, some of which were successfully intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array and the rest fell according to protocol.
In addition, an anti-tank missile was identified crossing from Lebanon toward the area of Meron in northern Israel. A hit was identified in the area of the IDF Aerial Control Unit, and did not harm the site’s capabilities.
The IDF is currently striking Hezbollah terror targets in Lebanon.
Air strikes have already happened so the headline is BS. Be nice if it’s an ultimatum and it works.
Eleutheria5 ,thanks for the live report!
Stay safe!
Isn’t Hezbolleh maybe 20 times the army strength of Lebanon?
If Israel voided the maritime usage agreement on that gas field, there won’t be a Lebanon. So the civilian Lebanese government will either grow a pair and find a way to either kick Hizbollah out of the country or quiet down, or they will cease to exist. The Druze are pretty good fighters. So are some Christian militias. Maybe they’ll form an alliance and finally do for the Hizzies.
In practical terms, for any conflict, the terrain of Lebanon is either your best friend or worst enemy, depending on where the fighting happens. Very mountainous.
Once the invasion starts will you be able to get to a safer area? Would you just ride it out? Were you there in ‘06? If you stay, will you be updating FR on what’s happening?
Will this also stop the indiscriminate white phosphorus bombing of hospitals and schools and the IDF gleefully shooting women and children?
Won’t be any invasion. For all their guff, Hizbollah can’t make mud out of sand in a real fight. I’m moving to Haifa for family reasons.
Nah. The blood libels will continue.
I was thinking more of the Israeli invasion into Lebanon to go after Hezbollah. Should that occur, how safe do you feel you’d be?
Safer than in NYC.
You got that right.
The Lebanese government has little influence with Hezbollah so warning them will have little to no effect. The Lebanese gov has already said from the beginning that they want no part of this war and they told Hezbollah to stand down.
They could refuse to give them logistical support. But I don’t think that would stop the Hizzies. They have their own supplies. So Israel would nullify the agreement the terms of which Lebanon is powerless to fulfill? Will UN Peacekeepers deploy and make it all better? Deploy, sure. Make it better, not likely. Really, this podcast sees Lebanon through rose-colored glasses.
The only thing that is going to stop muslims of any stripe is eradication.
It absolutely disgusts me that Israel is constantly being berated for aggression against the *palestinians* or others in defending themselves, but the muslims are NEVER chastised in like manner about the atrocities they perpetrate on innocent civilians.
I don’t think there’s any chance the Lebanese gov’t can make Hezbollah do or not do much of anything, correct?
Can Hamas land 50% of their missiles “somewhere” in Israel?
Supposedly they have considerably bigger and better than Hamas, and TBH I’d expect them to have some at least as good as what the Houthis have been firing off.
