Catherine Herridge, an Emmy-winning and nominated reporter known for her work on national security and intelligence, was among the 800 employees Paramount Global laid off in a bid to streamline operations amid financial strain. Her firing has since escalated into a broader controversy.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

it’s a shame they had to fire the other 799 employees to throw cover over their real reason.

what’s next for Herridge? Pre dawn fibber Swat team raiding her house to find her files & sources

If I may…a little real-world perspective. Gateway Pundit tends to get more wrong than right.

When anyone works for a company, in general there is no such thing as “your papers.” It’s all corporate property: email, presentations, research, videos, etc.

If you get fired, yes the firm will pack up your personal items (coffee mugs, family pictures, flair) and mail them back, if they’re ethical or have a heart. Sometimes, they’ll let you return after-hours with your manager or security looking over your shoulders to ensure you don’t accidentally put The Rockford File or customer lists in your box.

This hysteria about Ms Herridge’s stuff being “confiscated” MAY be textbook Gateway Pundit sensationalism. The intent could be to garner clicks, and maybe whip people into a frenzy - has anyone ever pondered the possibility that GP isn’t backed by “conservatives”? I mean, their reporting is so downright awful that it’s akin to what I see coming from a leftist organ….

I am open to the possibility that there are some kernels of truth in this story. If there are, the REAL intent behind this story MAY be to facilitate a de facto self-selection out of the MSM by conservsrives. To wit: if my sources will be compromised by ABC, CBS, NBC, MSLSD et al, I should find a new job and quit pronto.

The MSM has a staffing problem. Such an exodus would benefit them-less severance, etc.

Keep in mind, though, such an exodus could also benefit Gateway Pundit et al, insofar as they get “journalists” on the cheap. Always follow the money.

Tyrannical governments always go after truth tellers.

They were going to fire them anyway.

So its a win-win for CBS.
