I remember when I was in Germany, then West Germany, at the Fulda Gap, across from the Warsaw Pact army about equal in size to our own. We practiced fighting while retreating. We were under no delusions. Our hope was to hold the communists long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Not for the arrival of maggots living off what they consider to be the rotting corpse of this country. My son took his turn defending us, this country and our allies, in his day. He’s no maggot.
