“ The “advanced American unmanned submarine” thing is a bit misleading- the REMUS 600 platform is available to commercial users. It’s a 12.5 inch diameter underwater drone.”
***********************************************************

I suspect that there is military specific technology on the Navy’s version. I could be wrong on that but I suspect not.

Ho Chi Minh said that they could lose 10 of them to one of us and they would still win. He was right.

The big mistake for the VC was the Tet Offensive. It wiped them out. The traitor Walter Cronkite depicted it as a loss for the US though. I read from General Giap’s excerpted memoirs that he and Ho were trying to figure out how to get peace terms after the Tet disaster. Then they saw Walter on TV and knew they would win. Don’t know if it’s really true.

Either way I hope Cronkite is having a hot time right now.

Wow…. I like how the Navy’s version of this marine drone can launch its own Unmanned AERIAL Vehicle when that is called for in a situation.

Navy should have destroyed it right away. What a buncha numbnuts. Who cares how many ships get sunk as long as some officer doesn’t have to take effective action and maybe get an angry letter in his file

Assuming it is true? I don’t think it is true. No one else is reporting this story. Who is Olalekan Adigun and BNNBreaking?

Obama ordered it "captured." Just like a few years back when he landed a drone in Iran complete and intact.

Between the troubles that Russia's Black Sea fleet has had and the impotence of the US fleet against a mid-rate force of Houthis in the Red Sea theater, I'm getting the impression that naval power in general is under serious threat from drone technology.

That has some serious ramifications for naval strategy and power projection. The Washington regime is hugely dependent on naval superiority as a tool for force projection and interdiction of enemy movements as well as for commerce protection. Just as the British empire was dependent on her navy as the basis for its pre-eminence, without a strong navy the US is potentially unable to influence or control events across Eurasian/African theaters. American "isolationism" may in fact be forced upon it whether it chooses it politically or not.

At least our Navy can boast about a bunch of trannies.

Absolutely, but it looks like the Navy has multiple versions: at least one proprietary one (painted for low observability) that would presumably have the military goodies installed on it, as well as regular, and much cheaper, commercial/research grade ones for things like meteorological observation, basic mapping, etc that are basically an off-the-shelf use.

I'm guessing it's the latter that got grabbed, given the neon green and logos etc.

I'm also guessing the surveillance / targeting version does have anti-tamper and /or self-destruct.

Well, it happened with spy aircraft drones under a Democrat President, why shouldn’t it happen with sea drones under a Democrat Presidency? Let’s not forget the boat captured by the Iranians from our gang that can’t sail straight. Military incompetence is magnified when they are forced to fight with their hands tied behind their backs. They take risks with intelligence technology instead and wind up giving away secret technology and capabilities that took decades to develop.
