I first registered to vote as a Democrat.
And then, like Ronaldus Magnus, I discovered that "I hadn't left the Democratic Party--the Party left me".
My moment of awakening was when the DNC muzzled PA Governor Robert Casey, Sr., who was poised to present a pro-life message to the national convention.

Bttt.
The Democrat party has been socialist and anti-American since at least FDR , https://youtu.be/8beQdqi_H7s?si=QXK17UhC7WeZZ9tN.

Nah, they were always against freedom and liberty. After all, they are the party of slavery, segregation, the trail of tears, Jim Crow, the kkk, Japanese internment camps and now infanticide.

The last really normal Democrat was Hubert Humphrey. Among other things he was pro-life. He helped break the communist hold on the Minnesota Democrat party. He was a great American. The radicals that were starting to take over the Democrat party in 1968 despised him.

Nope.
Last Democrap Presidential vote was Clintoon, 1992...and only because I was suckerebated into thinking that he was going to “fix” spiraling healthcare/health insurance costs.
First Presidential vote (1980) was for Ronald Reagan...as a Dem!

I think you are both mistaken. The last American Democrat (someone who was a Democrat, who I can classify as "American") was Zell Miller. (I disagreed with him on a variety of subjects, but he was more conservative than many RINOs we have today)
This article was pretty good. It seems to define, but never mentions, what is called LINK: The Overton Window...it is about 2-3 min, but explains it well.

The one democrat I could see myself voting for in history is Harry Truman. He at least cared enough about the troops to drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And if he hadn’t done that, I might not be here today.

The political spectrum has shifted to the Left, especially on cultural issues. But let's assume what would have happened has Kennedy survived the assassination in 1963. Let's also assume he lived until 1995. Democrats in the 1970s switched from pro-life to pro-abortion. Examples include Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, and Dick Gephardt. Given the shift, and JFK's reputation as a “swinger”, I believe he would have gone to pro-abortion, especially after Cardinal Cushing, a Kennedy family friend, died.

Growing up, I knew a few Conservative Democrats. One was Ella Grasso (The first women’s governor elected in her own right), William O Neil (not Tip, but a state legislator), my state senator (who fought against the income tax), but not anymore.

Unfortunately the republicans never use that. They get called racist but don’t say anything. The democrats want reparations. Fine. Why don’t the republicans say, “yes. The democrats were slave owners who do indeed need to pay for their sins.” Instead? Nothing.
