Canadian police has always worn the external armor. The firearm risk for them is almost always going to be rifles and shotguns, not handguns.
However, I’m not sure the armor they wear can really stand up to rifle fire.

Not sure it’s warranted here, but people are becoming a LOT more skeptical of law enforcement these days. For ever story of a hero... there’s a matching story about a jackboot off the rails.
The Cluster-F in the above video had a number of points that could have had drastically different outcome. Dirt-bag deserves a dirt nap, but that female cop needs to go guard a mall somewhere.

I have friends who have family in the police force now. It’s odd how it turned into one big blue line once family joined in. It’s very odd to see how they go from average people into a cult of us vs them.
In my humble opinion females have zero zip business being in patrol units. Dispatch, records and administrative positions are fine. But having the ladies mixing it up with 3 time felons, and lumberheads twice their size/weight who enjoy inflicting pain?
Not hardly.
I’d add in sniper to that list. Women don’t have the same “flinch response” some men do and pulling a trigger is something almost anyone can do.
As a large Male... it does make me wonder who the hell thought it was a good idea to put a 130lb female into that equation.
My Father is a retired Deputy, decorated, and former SWAT. Even kept doing work after retirement as an armorer and Range Master for the County. Grew up with a healthy does of respect for Law Enforcement...
These days though... I worry.
My black neighbors have helped me dig my car out of the snow for nothing. When a contractor delivered 1200 lbs of materials 2 days before his crew showed up, the black delivery guy helped me hump it all to my condo. When a woman was being mugged a block away, they came out of their houses and beat the crap out of the thief.
They're normal people like me, just trying to make a living. They would just prefer if the cops arrested the real criminals and not the first black guy they happen to see on the scene. Having gone to high school in the middle of what are now destitute rust belt towns, I would also appreciate it if the cops stopped busting the nuts of poor whites as well to pay their salaries.

I watch mostly motorcycle and music videos. Occasionally, I’ll tune in to the live space station view of Earth and just let be background while reading a book.
I am trying to retrain the algorithm to not give me that video by focusing on music, economic and VDH videos. It mostly has worked. If you want to screw up their algorithm watch 10 sci-fi stories and that will be all they recommend.
