Britain’s decline over the past 25 years has been staggeringly rapid. Almost everything is getting worse, and almost nothing is getting better. Our public and private institutions are broken, presided over by an incompetent, selfish and narcissistic ruling class. Living standards, when adjusted properly for living and property costs, are declining.
Even the simplest things don’t work any longer. Queuing, scarcity and congestion are rife, our infrastructure is embarrassingly poor, and the honest and hardworking face endless bureaucratic battles to obtain what they are due. Free riding, crime, disorder, fraud, littering and generalised rule-bending are rife, and all too often tolerated by apathetic citizens and an indifferent state. Britain’s residual virtues, our individualism, independence of mind, tolerance and openness, uniquely appealing features of our national character, are fading.
Like a frog in boiling water, few saw the full scale of the decline coming until it was too late, and those who did were ridiculed by the bien-pensant. Yet even in 2024, when millions now realise that Britain is on the wrong track, there is no hope of meaningful improvement. The Tories have been abysmal, but Labour will be even worse: Keir Starmer will double down on the social-democratic and culturally nihilistic policies tested to destruction by the Conservatives.

“…and it will be harder and harder for people to keep their heads down and say “This is fine.”
When you look at some of the examples such as the Soviet Union you see that people can keep their heads down for a long long time. Only a second amendment can shorten it and then only if there are enough Patriots.
It will be interesting to see if the Marxists, who pushed diversity to destroy the system, will be able to wrest control from the Muslims who were and are the face of that diversity.
One recalls that the UK post WWII immediately went to install the outright socialist, Clement Atlee. With the creation of the welfare state -- "free money" and that has only grown in scope and size -- and the nationalization of much. Free, it turns out after many decades, is very expensive. And Fabian socialism is not a recipe for prosperity, it turns out.
While in Germany, years back, I saw a BBC Hard Talk interview with one of Atlee's government allies, who, when asked about the 23 percent unemployment, responded with, "yes, but WE were in power."
The article is correct. For a very long time, Britain has been "...presided over by an incompetent, selfish and narcissistic ruling class." To this day, in fact.
How like here and now in the US, as well, and in many nations in Europe. If we as "the West" is so characterized, then our path as conservatives is to oppose in all ways possible.
I know it's a dumpster dive over at DM, but out of nowhere the wording in this recent title and article made me think of something truly unfortunate that could befall Britain out of left field:
Olive branch? Who would trust that snake for all of the brazen public violations of trust. The family knows not to pick it up. Yet another victim card, on top of the general vibe over the years that this boy ain't right, and not in a harmless way.
Insiders had revealed that Harry, who is the fifth in line to the throne, and Charles had several 'warm exchanges' during the duke's transatlantic dash to Clarence House on February 6.
But palace sources have told The Sunday Telegraph that there is 'no way back' for Harry, who said in a US interview this week that he thought the King's illness could help unify his family
He thought cancer would help. Considering that the four ahead of him are William and his young children, and Harry is the disgruntled, "Spare" with some wiring issues...
Well, it suddenly made me consider that security details had better not fail.
Every single illegal alien needs to be rounded up and returned to their home country. Refugees need to be closely monitored and those who have not assimilated need to be returned to their countries.
All money given to NGOs needs to be cut off. All of it. If the cause is good people will support it. Set up refugee camps in each country of origin and let the UN guard them.
The Brits once had dignity - now they’re becoming a hellhole with the help of monsters like George Soros - a ‘man’ whose hatred of goodness is bottomless.
The same is happening here in the US.
England is long gone. The middle class is dead. The wealthy are part of the problem or just don’t care. The rest are mostly foreigners. Scotland and Wales are so Woke they make Massachusetts look like Wyoming politically. Ireland I don’t have an opinion.
The UK has their own home-grown globalists—little need for ours—who sleep-walked the somnambulant UK populace first into the horrors of the EU, and then slippery-slid into Klaus Schwab’s neo-fascist bordello.
You have to hand it to Nigel Farage and Brexit; no doubt they caused sleepless nights in Brussels.
Pip pip, though, everything’s on track now!
This thread is making me wonder what Britain could have done differently to survive. England is not a very large island. Frozen in amber, it would disappear from all relevance.
I suppose the UK should NOT have built the Tunnel, should NOT have joined the EU.
I suppose they should have banned birth control and sent their excess to the former empire, rather than the reverse.
The Ancient Greek Democracies are gone, never to return. So it will be with the British Empire and even America. It must be unsettling to see a height of civilization that is in your past, but the past never returns.
The UK has a Deep State, too.
Wanna save your country?
SECURE YOUR DAMNED ELECTIONS.
It’s that simple.
Fabian socialism is not a recipe for prosperity
It finally sunk in, eh?
We’ve seen it coming for a long time.
Who is John Galt?
Oh, and do NOT let your Deep State pick your candidates you.
Heck that first paragraph says it all about the USA;
