Any retail business is at the mercy of many factors beyond their direct control, success is never guaranteed - but failure is assured when the rule of law is not enforced. Democrats used to understand this implicitly.
You would think the front door would be tied into an alarm system which would alert the police through a monitor system. Inside, high resolution video would be put in memory capable of recording every minute bit of evidence of the criminals inside. A high voltage current would be hooked into the brass counter holding the cash register. Upon activation, 911 would be called for medical aid.
Everybody learns at their own pace, I always say. Unfortunately there is a critical mass of people who know nothing of history, facts, logic, nor reason. They run purely on emotion and fairy tales, a product of leftist engineering.

Business owners are going to have to live in their businesses to weather this crime wave. It will be old times again with a residence upstairs and a business below at street level.
