I purely hate this feeling that I’m being manipulated, and I’m not happy about hearing that Trump is also being manipulated-——again.

Hey Donald, it’s not our job to protect a bunch of crooked oligarchs from the consequences of their greed.

The cognitive dissonance coming from Trump is getting deep.

Biden has been calling for a combination of more aid to Ukraine and Israel and Taiwan (which enjoy large bipartisan support) IN COMBINATION WITH more funding for refugees (which Republicans in both houses oppose).

Republicans have been offering to support more aid to Ukraine and Israel and Taiwan IN COMBINATION WITH enforcing current law regarding our country’s borders.

It looks like aid to Ukraine and Israel and Taiwan has been detached from border issues by the Senate and we’ll see what the House decides to do with it.

To be clear, neither Republicans nor Democrats are unanimous in what I described. Some Republicans (and a lot of Putinbots on this site) are isolationists, as opposed to America First. Some Democrats are pro-Palestine and oppose aid to Israel.

DON’T LET DEMOCRATS TELL YOU WHAT IS AND HAS BEEN THE REPUBLICAN POSITION.

Republicans are America First and believe in Peace Through Strength. Republicans advocated lethal aid to Ukraine while Obama was President (when Obama would only send MREs to Ukraine). Donald Trump sent lethal aid to Ukraine, such as anti-tank missiles, when he was President.

There should be no doubt that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if Donald Trump had been re-elected. Putin invaded Ukraine while Obama was President and he invaded Ukraine a second time when Biden became President. Putin smells weakness and the Democrats are weak.

I mean Trump literally said in so many words this week that he will not intervene on behalf of Nato members, so it’s not hard to see that he is just lying here, flat out as per usu.

Biden wants to spend a lot of money on Ukraine, and have them lose, and wring his hands and clutch his pearls, and then spend lots of money on Taiwan and have them lose, and wring his hands and clutch his pearls.

For those suffering from senility, Trump gets it. He was the first to give lethal aid to Ukraine, back in 2019, when newly-elected Zelensky convinced him that he was serious about fighting corruption (inter alia, he jailed an oligarchic supporter of his for fraud). They impeached him over it, because he asked him to look into Joe Biden’s corrupt dealings in one instance.

Trump will end the conflict, and stop the Taiwan conflict before it starts, if it doesn’t start in the next nine months. Not by spending money, but by ending the conflict on mutually beneficial terms.

Here’s the difference,

Under Trump, Ukraine today would not be in a state of war and de facto destroyed as a nation.

Under Trump we would have never taken the high risk, low ROI move fastracking Ukraine unconditionally into NATO October 2021.

This was us causing a war: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/

And it was an UNNECESSARY move other than it servered the purpose of making sure some really rich people got what they wanted, and that the US has some influence in Europe through security policy (We don’t want to lose our influence and Ukraine joining the EU but not NATO is undesirable).

Trump having been a business man and still of sound mind, understands how to manage risk, the concept of ROI, while with Biden there was some serious miscalculation. This is especially true since Ukraine 2014 and the Republic of Georgia 2008 clearly showed Russia had enough of our jackass games along their border. So was this war predictable? Yes.

Russia is no longer the Soviet threat, nor is there a Warsaw Pact. Russia is by itself less than 1/2 our conventional military and with less high tech, less big high end systems... But they are an over-match (>3 times the power) for Ukraine militarily, economicaly, by population, and in political influence. Was the outcome of this war predictable? Yes.

The BEST we can hope for today is a Ukraine that lost 18% of their land and population to Russia, their major industial area, their steel industry with its port city. Those are gone. As to the rest, the refugees, birthrate implosion, loss of >1/3 of a nations GDP, damage to infrastructure, internal instability, the loss of life, and tens of thousands of invalids which will drain Ukraines resources for a generation are also considerations.

The MSM should be asking Biden, “WTF were you thinking?” Or the MSM should ask “were even thinking?”
