Things are going badly for Ukraine — really badly
Business Insider via Yahoo ^ | February 13th, 2024 | Mia Jankowicz,Tom Porter

As the second anniversary of Russia's unprovoked invasion approaches, the situation is beginning to look bleak for Ukraine.

Last year's counteroffensive brought hopes that Ukraine could capitalize on its successes in 2022 and drive back Russian forces from occupied territories in southern and eastern Ukraine.

But the offensive failed to achieve a breakthrough, and Ukraine is now seeing crucial support from its allies bleed away. Meanwhile, its troops are experiencing shortages of personnel and ammunition.

There are problems at the top, too. Its senior command has been engulfed in chaos, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy replacing Valery Zaluzhny, a senior commander, amid reported disagreements over strategy.

'It's just relentless pressure'

At the heart of Ukraine's problems is diminishing international aid. Ukraine has previously said it may not be able to successfully defend itself against Russia without US help.

Not to worry. Soon another thread will be posted telling us that Ukraine is now winning.

Ukraine is winning. They will win in the end.

Russia is winning. They will win in the end.

Just keep sending money.

We need a chart. Who is supposed to be in the catbird’s seat during the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall?

Is there a way to ship materials from Afghanistan? Money already spent.

As the second anniversary of Russia's unprovoked invasion approaches...

"Unprovoked" except for the CIA fomenting the 2014 coup of a democratically elected government, Boris Johnson convincing Z-man to back out of the Minsk Accords, and NATO teasing membership for Ukraine, etc.

Nope...only if the House passes the 'aid' bill. Then we will hear glowing reports of a "new counteroffensive" and "massive Russian casualties."

We can send more money. That always works right?

As long as most of it is coming back to the DNC and the RNC, yes, it always works.

Putin dies and goes to hell, but after a while, he is given a day off for good behavior.

So he goes to Moscow, enters a bar, orders a drink, and asks the bartender:

-Is Crimea ours?

-Yes, it is.

-And the Donbas?

-Also ours.

-And Kyiv?

-We got that too.

Satisfied, Putin drinks, and asks:

-Thanks, how much do I owe you?

-5 euros.

Also, the same guy who forced Poroshenko to call a cease-fire in 2015 so that his encircled army in Debaltseve could escape the DPR forces.

“What would it take happening to Russia to make it withdraw offensive forces and be preoccupied elsewhere instead?”

My own preference? That Putin dies (by whatever cause) and his replacement puts an immediate end to the war.

While I think this is likely it is also shaping up that China is seeing Russia’s weakness and is starting to look at recapturing Siberia from Russia.

Unlike an attack on Taiwan there would be no repercussions from the West if China invested the effort to seize territory that used to be theirs anyway.

In the event of such an invasion by China the Russians would have no choice but to end the war in Ukraine and fight the Chinese or else abandon Siberia to the Chinese.

Either way, Russia would be skunked.

“I say your deranged tagline violates the spirit of this policy.”

My tagline is a mirror of a quote from Russian propagandist Anton Krasovsky who said, “Ukrainians aren’t people, they’re cosmic trash”

“As the second anniversary of Russia’s unprovoked invasion approaches”

Yeah... sure Mia. One day Putin woke up and said “Say, I’m going to attack those peace-loving nazis over in Ukraine. No real reason, I just kinda want to recreate the era of the Czar.”

LOL

Russian elections are May (I think I read).

Behind Putin, fighting to replace him are hardliners who want all out war.

“Behind Putin, fighting to replace him are hardliners who want all out war.”

Now try selling this to the average Russian who was never threatened by anything the Ukrainians were doing. There are exactly no Ukrainian forces occupying any part of antebellum Russia. Ukraine is not an existential threat to Russia.

So how do you sell the Russian people on launching into a second Great Patriotic War when they really don’t need to do this? Their kids are not at threat, nor are their homes, nor are their lands.

What’s their motivation?

What motivation we did see out of Russia was in the form of some 700,000 to 1,500,000 Russians who packed up and left the country when the war started.

They’re not going to come back to bleed for Putin’s imperial war.

Any other wannabe Czar will face the same circumstance or worse.

A NATO ukraine is a threat to Russia.

And so far, Putin has done enough to accomplish most of what he wants without justifying NATO involvement.

But let NATO create a false flag and begin attacking, and you will galvanize the population.

And that is what the neocons want

I'm sure the CIA would approve. Just one problem Russia has many choices and if China invaded Russia (their ally) Russia in its depleted current state would be forced into a corner.

The only way out would be to use nukes on the invading hoards. Since almost no one lives in the area Putin would not hesitate and he would have moral authority to use them since Russia was being invaded once again.

The Russian bear may be wounded but it's still very dangerous. The Chinese are not stupid.
