While the Creator, Who made all things out of nothing, and out of love for us, is free to work all things as He pleases, it is not a stretch to think it would all start with a “natural” sudden increase in the greater light.
There is a pretty good body of evidence that our Sun has a major event, a micronova, every 12,000 years.
The last one was about 12,000 years ago...
