Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk slammed U.S. Republicans for blocking a bill containing billions in military assistance for Ukraine.

“Dear Republican Senators of America. Ronald Reagan, who helped millions of us to win back our freedom and independence, must be turning in his grave today,” Tusk wrote Thursday morning on X. “Shame on you.”

After months of negotiations, Republican senators on Wednesday blocked a $118 billion bipartisan package that includes $60 billion in military assistance for Kyiv.

U.S. President Joe Biden has been urging Congress to push through with the funding for Ukraine, which has been stalled in Congress for months amid Republican disagreements over border policy. But former President Donald Trump has been encouraging lawmakers to reject the bill.

Anyone who thinks Donald Trump or Ronald Reagan would have denied aid to Ukraine is absolutely crazy.

I was around during Reagan, I don't ever recall him suggesting giving Poland lethal military aid until after they were members of NATO.

If the US had given Poland military aid before the USSR puled out it would have started a quagmire similar to Ukraine.

Well gee, maybe that's because at the time Poland was a member of The Warsaw Pact.

Reagan wanted $100 million for the Contras and $450 million for the Mujahedin. In both cases fighting Commies.

Even allowing for inflation, that is peanuts compared to the hundreds of BILLIONS wanted for delaying the end of the Ukrainian war.

This Polish turd Tusk, doesn’t know anything about Reagan. He was not a warmonger and would not have bankrupted the American people over a foreign war.

Actually, Ukraine has been Russian territory before the United States was a country. You can't blame them for invading when Ukraine began following the west and became an enemy nation that is no longer worthy of the gift they received.

.

Territory of so-called Ukraine which is represented as Russian orange on the map.

.

Of course, use the slider to stop at any date in time.

Zeepers are so full of pure nonsense. Reagan was not a warmonger. Reagan would not have appreciated the Uke nazis attacking their own people either.

This has nothing to do at all with Tucker, it is just that Zeeptards can’t handle free speech. That is why you want Carlson to shut up.

That isn’t surprising. I would say that the Poles voted for him so that must be what they want.

That said, who really knows if their elections were any more fair than our own.

I strongly believe Reagan would look at Ukraine with his “Reagan Doctrine” of when to involve the US: 1) Only when you have a solid majority of the people behind the effort; 2) Clear strategic purpose; 3) Exit strategy; 4) Apply full, unrelenting power.

None of that fits Ukraine.
<<<<<<

Good point.

Reagan would have urged negotiations with Russia to establish a non-aligned Ukraine while strengthening NATO’s defensive capabilities to enforce such a security agreement.

Pushing Russia into a war with NATO would not be something Reagan would support.

Believe me this was my biggest disappointment in all the new papers I uncovered. Wish I hadn’t seen it.

Especially since he regarded the USSR as a spiritual evil, vs all other confrontations as just political problems.

Dear Tusk,
times are different. The Cold War has been over for a long time. Reagan did not go around recklessly trying to provoke war with another nuclear power.

Reagan was always concerned about the best interest for individual Americans. He wouldn’t have prioritized all this globalized spending.
