Don’t forget the reworked Dragnet in the early 00s.

I thought he did rather well in it.

Not Dragnet, Ed O’Neill starred as Lt. Joe Friday in the short-lived detective series “L.A. Dragnet” produced by Dick Wolf, the producer of NBC’s Law & Order series and spin-offs. The series aired on ABC from 2003 to 2004 and was a reboot of the classic “Dragnet” series that ran from 1951 to 1970 as well as another reboot in 1989. After a 12-episode season that followed the traditional formula, the format of the series was changed to an ensemble crime drama in an attempt to boost ratings. In “L.A. Dragnet,” Friday was promoted to lieutenant with less screen time and Frank Smith was written out, in favor of a younger and ethnically diverse cast played by Eva Longoria, Desmond Harrington, Evan Dexter Parke, and Christina Chang.
