Tucker Carlson claims he's interviewing Vladimir Putin because 'Americans are not informed' about the war in Ukraine - despite 'paying for it in ways they don't understand'

Tucker Carlson has confirmed he is in Moscow to interview Vladimir Putin - and he's doing it because 'Americans are not informed' about the war in Ukraine.

The former Fox News host announced on X on Tuesday that he would be publishing an interview with the Russian despot, following widespread speculation after he was pictured leaving the Kremlin in Moscow on Monday.

Carlson, 54, said the interview would air 'unedited' on his website, without a paywall, and on X, making him the first American to interview Putin since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

'Two years into a war that's reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed,' the conservative commentator said of the conflict in Ukraine. 'They have no real idea what's happening in this region. But they should know, they're paying for much of it in ways they might not fully perceive.'

Propaganda in the tradition of Woodrow Wilson and World War I the Germans tossing babies into bayonets and all that should be on the scrapheap of history....

By most accounts it was the British, not Wilson, who invented modern propaganda, aimed at the Germans. You know the famous quote about "lies big enough and repeated often enough", but do you know that Goebbels was accusing the British of it when he said it?

What's ironic today is that, while the WW1 Germans the British were slandering were pretty mild, the Red Army in WW2 actually DID that stuff as a matter of course, (along with the more virulent Nazis). This we know from many, many first-hand accounts. Read Bloodlands by Timothy Snyder if you have the stomach for it.

None of this would be news to the ancient Romans, Persians, and Arabs, Even early medieval European armies tended to be brutal. Massacres to extinction were more the rule than the exception, and everybody expected it.

WE thought that Modern Europeans had evolved above that, and they had by 1800, which is why the sins of the Wehrmacht were so shocking. Less surprising for the Red Army, since as I keep telling you their Mongol background has never completely faded away.

Needless to say, the Arabs in the middle east have never evolved, as recent events have shown us. Maybe it's the inbreeding.

Here endeth the lesson. Your reading assignment for Spring Break will indeed be Bloodlands by Timothy Snyder. I'm giving you a whole month and more because it's tough to take in large doses.

Like mein kampf, putins own words both written and spoken explain his goals and desires.
Corruption is real in Ukraine as it is here in US. We didn’t get to 34 trillion debt this fast without vast amounts of it

Where I break ranks with many here is that putins invasion is somehow justified, and that aiding Ukraine against that aggression is not justifiable

Putins dreams and desires have nothing to do with denazification/ global homo agenda, or protecting Russia, but for a greater Russia that was as feared as the Soviet Union and the power that came with that fear

Hey, Frick (aka Mrs. Frack); do you even have a clue as to who H.L. Mencken even was?

Please follow along. This thread is about Tucker Carlson’s interview with Vladimir Putin. It isn’t about H.L. Mencken or your comment about the opinion page of the Baltimore Sun.

My point was that Tucker couldn’t ask pointed questions of Vlad, not that we don’t have some (or many) of the same things happen here.

Hey, Frick (aka Mrs. Frack); the discussion on this thread centers on the function and purpose of free speech in general and journalism in particular.

I know you have great difficulty in multi-tasking (hell, you have great difficulty in mono-tasking), so this thread is likely beyond your ken.

The subjects of the thread are Carlson and Putin. Please focus the best you can.

Good one, I know where Jon”wildberry” Preston gets his.

Putins dreams and desires are well spelled out, as well as other “Russian” polititians and pundits

I stand by my statement

“The subjects of the thread are Carlson and Putin. Please focus the best you can.”

Ah, Frick (aka Mrs. Frack).

Yes, they are the SUBJECTS (i.e., the grammatical actors or doers), but the TOPIC of the discussion is freedom of speech in general, and journalism more specifically (as Carlson is the journalist and Putin is his story). You see, Frick (aka Mrs. Frack), TOPIC is the general theme of the discussion.

Frick (aka Mrs. Frack); as I have said to you before: You REALLY need to go back to school and retake the grammar courses you so obviously failed. And take some basic logic courses, while you are at it.

the TOPIC of the discussion is freedom of speech in general

Perhaps to your failing mind it is, but not to others. You continue to demonstrate an inability to focus. Please tell your caretakers.

Ah, Frick (aka Mrs. Frack). You have not been following this thread. Had you been doing so, you’d see that the discussion is very much about free speech.

BTW, Frick (aka Mrs. Frack): When are you going to answer the questions I posed to you previously?

Big difference between couldn’t and wouldn’t. Nothing keeping him from sayin after the fact what he couldn’t ask, guess we will see since it will be available to everyone free of charge. We know the MSM would never ask embarrassing questions of their preferred marxist and we know they could if they wanted to.

We need to hear both sides. Not only about this, but everything.

Absolutely correct. Your comments are succinct, thoughtful, and accurate.
