Conservative pundit Ann Coulter expressed her frustration with Republican Trump voters over the weekend and made the case for why she doesn’t believe the former president can beat President Joe Biden in a general election.
“How many people who voted for Biden in 2020 have since switched to Trump?” Coulter asked on X/Twitter before breaking down the electoral math as she sees it:
1) those who voted for Trump but who’ve since died (older white people);
2) immigrants who turned 18 in the last 4 yrs and will vote (minorities);
3) Republicans who voted for Trump in 2020, but have since changed their minds over, e.g. his behavior in the GA runoffs, and the 2022 “red wave” —
… losing election after election for the GOP by demanding that Republicans run on the “stolen 2020 election,” e.g. Blake Masters, Kari Lake, Doug Mastriano, Adam Laxalt, Don Bolduc, Joe Kent, etc.
Coulter dropped her analysis just ahead of the Iowa Republican caucus, in which Trump is expected to win by a wide, if not historic, margin. The last Des Moines Register poll ahead of voting showed Trump with 48 percent support, while Nikki Haley is in second place with 20 percent. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was trailing in third place with 16 percent support.
Coulter followed that thread up a few hours later with another post, writing:

Coulter has broken with Trump in recent years, citing his failure to achieve meaningful immigration reform as the breaking point. The bombastic commentator was once such a big fan and booster of Trump that in August of 2016 she published a book titled, In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!
She seems to have disappeared from public forums. Perhaps no one is interested in what she has to say anymore?
Ann needs to get out of her Manhattan echo chamber every now and then.

Yes, yes Ann, the Trump support has “SHRUNK” since 2020 (eye roll).
Let me just point out 1 little fact Ann, Trump never once lead in the polling nationally in 2016 or 2020, currently he’s leading in nearly every poll not only nationally but in the “swing” states.
So keep telling yourself whatever you need to Ann...

She’s right about demographics. At a baseline, the electorate is 1%-3% more Democrat than it was in 2016 except for a few states that have had heavy domestic migration of right-leaning voters (Florida, Texas and North Carolina). That’s a huge problem and why anyone has to feature Trump as the underdog under any circumstances.
I think she’s very wrong, baseline changes aside, that no one who voted for Biden in 2020 could vote for Trump in 2024. If you were not a Trump fan, Trump was a frustrating / annoying person to have coming out of your television screens, and COVID and George Floyd (riots) reflected poorly on him. Biden positioned himself plausibly to people who didn’t know better as a best-of-all-worlds white moderate who’d have a steady hand on the tiller. Four years later, the picture is very different. Biden can be seen as the author of massive inflation, increasing crime, radical anti-white and pro-illegal immigration policies, and endless and expanding war. PLENTY of people will decide they can live with the nasty tweets and other Trump unpleasantries.
