A Republican-led House panel approved articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas early Wednesday for having “willfully and systematically” flouted federal immigration laws and breached the public trust.
The House Homeland Security Committee voted 18-15 along party lines for the two articles of impeachment, affirming that Mayorkas failed to detain migrants crossing the border before deciding whether to grant asylum.
The articles also state that the secretary ignored records requests from the committee and misled Congress about having “operational control” of the US border and maintaining that it is “secure.”
The marathon hearing, which dragged on for more than 15 hours, saw several procedural attempts by Democrats to tank the impeachment effort, with Republicans insisting that their year-long investigation had uncovered sufficient evidence that Mayorkas violated his oath of office.

Both sets of majority witnesses urged the House panel to impeach Mayorkas, whereas legal scholars called by the minority argued the secretary’s actions had not risen to the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
“For almost a year, committee Democrats have turned a blind eye to the victims of the border crisis, while berating us for spending what they believed was too much time investigating Secretary Mayorkas’ handling of the border,” Green said in his opening remarks.
“If your refusal to obey the law leads to the death of your fellow citizens, you no longer deserve to keep your job, you’re breaking the people’s trust.”

Uh, literally leaving the border open with no control and working to remove barriers to stop illegal crossing seems like a high crime.
The hearing dragged on so long because Democrats kept proposing absurd amendments that they knew would get voted down. But they still had to do what Democrats do, and waste everyone’s time.
Waste of time.
The waste of time is working with Biden and Schumer and their pledge to shut down the border if at least 5000 A DAY have crossed INTO OUR COUNTRY.
5000 x 365 = 1,825,000.00
So every day...it will be 4,902 or 4,982 or 4,878...etc etc. In other words, they will control the numbers...
Like Speaker Mike Johnson said...the number of illegals entering each day should be "0".
The GOPee in the House are not really doing anything useful on any other issues.
No its not. The bass turd deserves impeachment and removal.
Yes. Democrats must be held accountable for the open borders deluge. Forcing them to defend the criminal Biden is good politics.
The fact that Chicago and NYC and others are screaming at BIDEN for this mess is loud and clear. The Dems can't ignore it forever.
My guess is that Schumer and Obama and Hillary are all in on this little conspiracy to turn all these illegals into voters....which is more likely than not included in the "still secret" Senate package.
Why bother?
This Congress could vote to impeach Biden himself and it wouldn't make the evening news.
Although I agree, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas should be impeached, Alan Dershowitz says “maladministration” is not a “high crimes and misdemeanors”.
What I want to know is what are the consequences of a conviction. While I would prefer a public hanging if there is nothing more than job loss there are no consequences. There needs to be something severely consequential or else there will be no changes. At least be sure that Mayorkas can be sued by Americans that have lost family members.
Political theater. Mayorkas is only following orders. The more important issue is where those orders originate. I don’t believe Biden is capable of doing much of anything requiring critical thinking, so it must be someone else.
Correct. His orders came from deep state manipulators, no doubt Nazi Soros or equivalent.
One of the charges against Traitormayorkas should have been giving aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States.
The CUBAM Mayorkas should be impeached. Period.
This is way beyond maladministration.
Yawn. Wake me when the chariot races begin.
“Waste of time.”
Absolutely not. If the floor vote votes for impeachment and a Senate trial, the discovery and exposure of the full conspiracy during the Senate trial including the administration’s hand in the agenda can be a priceless opportunity for public exposure alone. It is not just about Mayorkas, it is an opportunity to drag in everyone who is part of the conspiracy.
“Correct. His orders came from deep state manipulators, no doubt Nazi Soros or equivalent.”
Who can all be exposed during a Senate trial for impeachment. Whether Mayorkas is found guilty or not is completely irrelevant.
