The average ticket price on one secondary-market site Monday morning was nearly double the final average price for last year's Super Bowl.
Tickets on at least one secondary-market site were the most expensive in Super Bowl history on Monday, underscoring the anticipation of the game's Las Vegas debut between the defending champion and what likely is the most popular team in the West.
Oh, and the great possibility Taylor Swift will be on hand when the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11.
The average purchase price on TickPick was $9,815 on Monday morning. That's nearly double the final average price of $5,795 for last year's game between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona, although current prices could decline.

Free market in action, more people want Super Bowl tickets than tickets available, price rises.
How much for a seat next to Taylor?
I see lots of celebrities and the lure of a few days in Las Vegas as part of the lure.
I will get a better view on TV. FOR FREE.
My ticket to 1996 Super Bowl XXX had a face value of $300, 2/3rds back of lower deck near the 30 yard line.
Veblen good theory in action:

A Veblen good separates fools from their money.
I wonder how many cameras they will dedicate solely to Taylor? The shallowness of humanity is staggering.
True. Amazing to think that the first Suoer Bowl didn’t even sell out the LA Coliseum. The game and event certainly have evolved. The concept of a dazzling Super Bowl halftime show, or special Super Bowl commercials, didn’t exist back then either .
I plan on a perfect view—I will be ignoring the National Felon League—at least until they provide the halftime show I want.
That is—the football players get to beat up their wives and girlfriends live on the field.
;-)
My tickets for Super Bowl XIV were only $50. Cheapest part of the trip to the Rose Bowl for the steelers 4th ring.
Fools and their money...
You're kidding, right?
The entire NFL is nothing more than a bunch of men fighting over a ball, with millions of people watching. How shallow is that, and what's one more celebrity in the mix?
Thanks for the lesson, Copernicus.
$9,815 average ticket price?
Enemies will conclude every elite American will be bunched into that one place shoulder-to-shoulder.
I plan to stay far away.
Hmmmm! Apparently branDUHnomics isn’t hurting whoever is seeking tkts. I, just me now, won’t spend a direct penny on any pro sports. EVER!
Remember bathroom stalls you had to pay a quarter to use? I’ve put more money towards a toilet bowl than any Superbowl.
I briefly though of buying tickets for me and my grandson if the Lions made it. But was looking at 10k a pop for halfway decent one. Don’t have 20k without taking out another mortgage. Thank God the Lions didn’t make it.
TV viewing is far superior to being there. But you don’t get the bragging rights.
You couldn’t pay me enough to sit next to that.
