I think everyone here called it correctly when the story first came out of the shootings. Third-world drug wars and shootings are now standard in our nation.

The only reason...the ONLY reason legal pot passed ANYWHERE was because states thought they could make money off taxing it.

It wasn’t because it was the right thing to do.

It wasn’t because it was less dangerous than alcohol.

It wasn’t to lower the crime rate.

It was to raise revenue.

Politicians...primarily Democrat politicians, but not exclusively...need to buy votes and they do that by expanding government programs and handouts. This requires more and higher streams of revenue. Thus “legal cannabis.” And legal gambling. And wealth taxes. And soon mileage taxes. And the impending meat tax. And the planned offspring tax.

If you REALLY want to do it AND/OR they DON’T want you to do it, it will be taxed.

Let me guess. The shooters’s names were:

Joe Ray Smith
Ray Lee Smith (Joe Ray’s brother)
Joe Bob Brown
Billy John Samuels
Daquan Andre White

The states “legalizing” pot are bowing to organized crime and Agenda 21 and simply imposing another form of taxation that actually cripples farming.

In many cases, “legalization” is accomplished by direct democracy...initiative petitions get the issue on the ballot for a vote. It is not a legislative effort.

California tried to have their cake and eat it, too. They “legalized” it but added so many taxes they practically invited the black market to waltz in.

That was by design. Like exorbitant taxes on cigarettes, the taxes were designed not to raise revenue but to foster the illicit market whose members give kickbacks to politicians.

Someone bogard the joint?

I believe the verb is to "bogart", based on Humphrey Bogart and his frequent posing with cigarettes.

In my neighborhood, people trade and gift quart jars of prized buds.

Like they trade prized peaches and tomatoes.

“The small bottles of tincture, about 1 oz., were over $100.”

That’s why I grow my own. Many people here do and many of them are not users. They have it just in case.

It wasn’t over Weed. It was over $$$

CA has been a grow state forever. Even the legal medicinal farms get raided by the feds.

No matter how you legalize the black market is always going to waltz in when it comes to things like mary-ja-wana.

That is because complying with regulations cost money, even basic regulations like you have to have your dispensary in a building that is not falling down around your ears.

Since there is almost no processing where things can go very wrong there is no incentive to buy legal when black market can always get it to you for cheaper.

With alcohol you need to process and if your equipment is not up to snuff your product will be inferior and, when it comes to the distilled stuff, may even be lethal.

Not the case with weed.

There was no way the black market was not going to surge.

If they ever try to outlaw tobacco the same thing will happen.

The entire legalization scheme was designed to fail. In CA it’s legal to grow your own. My sister in law does it. Supposedly they’re limited to something like 6 plants at a time but there’s absolutely no enforcement.

Her backyard is full of the stuff. No one says a word. Frankly I’m surprised there’s a single legal dispensary there still in business.

So the whole thing is a joke.

On a side note, black market weed growers are stealing/diverting water for their crops and law enforcement is hands off about it. Some areas in heavy growth areas in northern California are becoming no-go zones.

People will get dressed and drive to a coffee shop, sit in the drive through and take their coffee home when they could have stayed in their PJs and brewed a pot at home that is faster, better and cheaper.

What can I say? People are strange.
