This is how war is supposed to work.
Imagine if the Germans had surrendered after Stalingrad or Japan after Iwo Jima fell. How many lives would have been saved, how much destruction avoided.
Neither side in this war is ready to surrender. The US is urging the American model of “drop bombs, get your guys killed and maimed, then declare victory and get out” that we have practiced since 1953.
Except the Israelis live there, they have become experts at declaring victory over an undefeated enemy but they can’t get out.
So the war goes on, until somebody wins and somebody else loses.
