Why in the world would non-citizens get representation in our government?
Trump issued an Executive Order that illegal immigrants would not be counted in the 2020 census for purposes of apportionment and the Left sued in court, but the Census wasn't delivered to Trump so the case was dismissed.
That’s what many Americans want to know. Many probably aren’t even aware.
Why in the world would non-citizens get representation in our government?
Our US Constitution is an interesting read. When you think of when it was written, it had to accommodate:
1) The fact that most Americans got off the boat, or were children of those who did.
2) The fact that we had just thrown off the rule of a Monarchy we were all subjects of.
3) The fact that human slavery was still in practice in many American states.
So, we had the Three-Fifths Clause for slaves and other things that look archaic, by today’s standards.
I don’t, actually, find it so unreasonable that people who are going to live here and have children here are represented. Especially if there is not a plan in the world of getting rid of them.
The stupid GOP should have considered this when inviting them. It is a good reason to take immigration seriously and not let in any more.
I have recently begun to think that Blue states are happy with what Abbott is doing and happy that he is picking up the bus fare.
