Interestingly Sinn Fein, the IRA party, is in the opposition. They aren’t “woke” enough for this lot.

The IRA is very similar to Hamas.,,, Hamas probably wasn't funded out of bars in Boston and Chicago though.

Unfortunately, there are more than a few Irish and Americans of Irish extraction who foolishly sympathize with the Palestinians in the mistaken belief that Ireland's long struggle for national independence from Britain and the Palestinian war against Israel are broadly similar. And yes, there is similarity today between Hamas and the IRA in that both are terrorist organizations of Marxist ideology.
Yet, that said, it is much to the credit of the Irish population that they have little interest in trying to "free" the six Protestant counties of Northern Ireland from British rule. The Irish have instead done well by developing the Republic of Ireland into a free and prosperous nation. In contrast, the Palestinians have made Gaza and the West Bank into corrupt and nasty territories that embrace terrorism and extreme demands that show them to be undeserving of statehood.

Tom Clancy provided very detailed information on the close links between the IRA and the PLO in the book Patriot Games.

that’s is northern Ireland, not the republic of Ireland where this statement comes from
