Left-Wing Media Collapse Marches On — Vice, BuzzFeed Sell Off Parts
Breitbart ^ | 26 Jan 2024 | Johnj Nolte

Posted on 01/27/2024 9:58:46 AM PST by Rummyfan

“BuzzFeed … is looking to sell its food sites, Tasty and First We Feast, according to people familiar with the situation,” writes the Wall Street Journal. “Meanwhile, Fortress Investment Group, which took over Vice in bankruptcy last year, is in talks to sell its Refinery29 women’s lifestyle-focused site[.]”

The Wall Street Journal portrays these developments in much too narrow of a way — as “yet another chapter in the demise of these digital-media companies that raised money at sky-high valuations nearly a decade ago only to struggle amid a volatile ad market and a decline in traffic[.]”

That’s not the half of it.

If you take a good look around at the corporate media landscape, online and elsewhere, the wheels are coming off all over.

The corporate/establishment/leftist media are collapsing, and it is freakin’ glorious.

CNN has fallen off a ratings cliff.

The Los Angeles Times is losing about $40 million a year, cutting nearly a third of its staff over two recent layoffs.

The Washington Post slashed staff and lost nearly $100 million in 2023.

BuzzFeed laid off 15 percent of its staff and closed BuzzFeed News entirely.

Vice Media filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

Sports Illustrated shut down.

The Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Condé Nast layoffs are coming.

Jezebel closed.

...

The left’s rotting corpse institutions, including the media, Hollywood, and academia, are all facing an overdue reckoning. Take notice because these are joyous times.

They are in it for the cause. Losing money isn’t important. Look at the Washington Post for example.

If you are going to play state-run media, at least you should have state money to back you up.

“Meanwhile the owner of Sinclair Broadcasting (considered to be a conservative media company) is buying the Baltimore Sun”

Money is power. If there are more than a couple conservative billionaires left, they need to come forward.

I suspect, there are two causes. The public has grown tired of their bias, but the second cause is the Biden recession is causing advertiser to drastically reduce ad spending. They won’t admit the latter, especially during an election year.

Let us not forget what the corrupt major media did to our Republic and continued since then to allow its ruination. See: Blast From the Past – 14 Years Ago: “I Believe The Fix Was In for the 2008 Election and The Cover Up is Still Going Strong! The Perfect Storm for a Constitutional Crisis!”: https://cdrkerchner.wordpress.com/2024/01/26/blast-from-the-past-14-years-ago-i-believe-the-fix-was-in-for-the-2008-election-and-the-cover-up-is-still-going-strong-the-perfect-storm-for-a-constitutional-crisis/ #2008Election #ElectionFraud

The corporate/establishment/leftist media are collapsing, and it is freakin’ glorious.

Yes, it is glorious that the people are voting with their dollars and leaving these fountains of Leftist propaganda to wither in the sun and die.

On the other hand it is sad to see some of these news companies that have existed for 100 years or more slowly die because their editorial staffs refuse to examine their ideological puritanism and simply hope instead of cope with the fact that their Leftist bent is simply not aligning with their customer's views and taste.

Most of their customers views are probably not that far from that of the editors.

Likely a slight move toward the center would be enough to bring back a substantial number of readers.

But most likely they would rather wait and hope for White Knight to ride to the rescue like happened a few years ago to save the New York Times from bankruptcy.

For these Editorial purist it is better to suffer and honorable death than to budge from their Ideological Purity standards.

Vice and Buzzfeed have been selling off pieces for the last few years... When CNN and MSNBC are on the chopping block, then we can have a conversation.

It is kind of sad. Gone are the days when one could settle in with the morning paper and a cup of hot coffee and read news which was objective, informative, and about things which made a difference. I found a print copy of the NY Times in an airport a few weeks ago. Gave it a good look-over but basically it is not worth reading.

I don’t think websites are as lucrative as they once were. They are just a bunch of letters.com and if you don’t have a bookmark you might never find it again. Plus Instagram tiktok and facebook take way too much time away from casual web browsing. And YouTube. If you do a web search, chances are that the first 5 results lead to YouTube. And food sites are defeated by progressives that want to change your diet to plant based food and bugs. I don’t think the Vice site offers suggestions on how to smoke a brisket or make tasty burgers. They want you to grill soybean burgers and facon. The best they will do is try to convince you that turkey burgers are better than sirloin bacon cheeseburgers. Woke foodies.

Okay I never heard of first we feast before so I looked it up. Stars eat hot wings and stars share their favorite snacks. And it’s all on YouTube. Looking at it I think it’s a very niche website and doesn’t really have much to offer in terms of interesting or variety. About 15 minutes per use per year is all they will ever manage. They could generate some interest if they were to feature Dylan Mulvaney eating hot wings but then they would have to shut down the entire site because they would not be able to survive being ghosted.

All of the print media is going the way of the dinosaurs.

People under the age of 40 have no idea what a newspaper is or even care. With 24 hour streaming of everything and anything a story is already a couple of days old by the time some newspaper covers it.

I don’t understand why libraries exist anymore either.
