It’s a tough choice. While San Diego is nowhere as nice as it was when my grandfather lived there, parts of it are still nice - not where my grandfather lived, but my cousin has a nice place. Moving to the middle of Texas, far away from the beach and mountains and the Mediterranean climate vs lower taxes, but a lower topography and Texas climate, could be enough to make these employees go postal.

Fortunately, California discourages gun ownership.

You haven’t seen the landscape around Austin, obviously. It is in the edge of the Texas Hill country and is actually quite lovely. But ruined by the people who live in Austin

Texas isn’t all desert like they show in movies-i live in the western part of the hill country in a rural area-it is colder in Winter, cooler in Summer. But we don’t want any cali libs here anyway, so yes-it is a terrible place-the scorpions can saw through doors to get in, and the coyotes and mountain lions hunt humans who are in the woods after dusk...
