Rarely do we get to see a man’s dignity leave his body in real time, but on Tuesday night, there was South Carolina senator Tim Scott, clapping along as Donald Trump hurled insults at Nikki Haley, whom he had just defeated in the New Hampshire primary.
At one point, Trump turned the microphone over to aspiring Trump best friend and professional irritant Vivek Ramaswamy, who claimed the former president’s win Tuesday was “America First defeating America Last.”
As Ramaswamy, who quit the race before Haley, accused a woman who has spent her adult life in public service of being “America Last,” Scott happily cheered, basking in the moment.

In fact, Trump’s now-unstoppable run to the 2024 Republican nomination is an inversion of everything we claim to hold dear in America: namely, the idea that the good guys win and the bad guys lose. For centuries, our social order rested on the basic premise that dignified behavior will always triumph — that justice will always go hand in hand with righteousness.

And since his election, Trump has done nothing but expose just how spineless members of the GOP are. Keeping their political futures alive is more important than, say, treating the people who got them where they are with basic respect.
In order to play in Trump’s party, one must support his daily barrage of lies, pretend he is once again fit to be president even if he is convicted of a felony, and ignore his reprehensible behavior toward women and minorities.

Occasionally, I venture over to National Review to see if the disaster of Biden's Presidency and the political persecution of Trump over the past few years has caused the writers there to have a light bulb moment. Nope. The "principled"(TM) conservatives there are still promoting conserving conservatism by giving the left everything they ask for (and them some). Rather than comment on Trump's policies they worry over the usual campaign rhetoric and campaign slogans.
This writer and others there accuse Trump and his supporters of everything the left and GOP has done for years. Both parties have always had contentious primaries where all candidate beat up on the others. Remember the racism accusations that Kamala made against Biden before suddenly becoming his loyal supporter and VP?
Do they every criticize Biden and his "extremist MAGA" rhetoric? Of course not.
It is "conservatives" such as this that have caused our nation to arrive at it current point. Their motto is "Don't fight and surrender gracefully in order to maintain your principles".
One thing this writer is correct about---Trump has exposed how spineless the GOP actually is when it comes to defending the freedoms of our nation.

Sorry CS, that went out the window, at least as far as our presidents are concerned, with Bill Clinton giving analingus to and receiving fellatio from an intern in the Oval Office. Then lying about it under oath and getting impeached.
As for good and evil, you can point out Trump’s personal failings all day long and you won’t come close to describing the monstrous evil the leftist Democrat party have done to this country for the last 7 decades. The Democrat party platform consists exclusively of Capital Sins. They are literally dismantling the country and reversing western civilization with their utopian socialist delusions. Delusions which cost humanity 100+ million dead and incalculable human potential in their first iterations.
Yet you would have us spend energy on Trump’s personal defects and the ugliness of primary politics, while the Biden administration opens the borders to 6 million low skilled dependents, weaponizes our justice system, censors the media, institutionalizes race essentialism and collective guilt, destroys our energy production and biological gender, attempts to federalize our election systems, transfer 100’s of billions of student loan debt onto the backs of working Americans and expands the unconstitutional regulatory administrative state at a record pace?
The first Trump term was vastly preferable to the destruction Biden has done to our great country, a country which has been under assault from the leftist Democrat party 7 decades. I don’t like Trump, but anyone who thinks our great country as founded can survive another 5 years of the Democrat party’s goal of “fundamentally transforming” our great country into a socialist superstate, is incapable of discerning the much lesser of two evils.
