In the short term, Haley will cede to Trump the Nevada caucuses and focus on her home state of South Carolina. But then what?
Nikki Haley just lost the New Hampshire primary by 11 percent.
She had earlier come in third in the recent Iowa caucuses behind Ron DeSantis.
But DeSantis, not she, dropped out of the race. He then endorsed front-runner Donald Trump.
By contrast, Haley confidently announced that at last there was a two-person, head-to-head race. So she confidently headed to New Hampshire.
Her subtext was that if she did not win the upcoming two-person primaries, she would come in “second” rather than “last.”
Her supporters outspent all the candidates in Iowa and would do so again in New Hampshire. Haley consolidated the Never-Trump voters, won Independents and cross-over Democrats, and garnered millions from the donor class exasperated at the thought of a third Trump candidacy.
Moreover, nearly half of those who voted in the Republican primary were not themselves Republicans. New Hampshire was the most Haley-friendly primary in the entire campaign season.
Yet after coming in last in the three-person Iowa race with 19 percent of the vote, she still lost by 11 points in a New England state more reflective of a traditional Romney or Bush voter than of a Trump supporter.
Trump has now won the first two primaries by large majorities. As he reminds us, no Republican in recent history has lost the nomination after winning Iowa and New Hampshire.
So what is Haley’s strategy ahead?
In the short term, she will cede to Trump the Nevada caucuses and focus on her home state of South Carolina.
But then what?

In sum, Haley now has four choices...

Nikki is just being funded by leftists to harm Trump. I hope Trump does not offer her a position in his administration. She would be a back stabber.
Her strategy is simple: Take the $$$.

Vindictive Vagina
Agree on both points.
...Or fourth, Haley can go the full-bore, dead-ender route.
She would ratchet up her harsh attacks on Trump’s age and emulate the 2016 Never Trump nihilism.
Haley could not win. But she could hurt Trump in the manner that the Never Trump vote wounded Trump in 2016 and might even have helped defeat him in 2020.
Haley would win accolades from the media, be canonized (for a while) by Democrats and Never Trumpers as a brave maverick speaking truth to power—and essentially blow up her political career.
An excellent VDH discussion of the choices that Ms Haley gets to choose from.

I predict #4.
She will go full cash grab mode. Raking in as much $$ as she can. And banking it.
She will go 100% never Trump. End her political career entirely. And either become a pundit, a CNN contributor, or writer and lecture circuit personality.
She is banking on the deep state taking out Trump one way or another.
I’m betting nimrata got a kari lake/jeff dewitt style phone call and they agreed on a price
Thanks for having me on your ping list... always interesting stuff.
She is not listed on the NV caucus. She is on the ballot that does nothing towards being awarded gop-E delegates in NV. Sadly the NV gop-E has done an extremely poor job with the entire caucus process and if you aren’t paying REAL close attention..... Caucus day is Thursday Feb 8th between 5-7:30 p.m. Pretty sure a lot of folks have no idea where they need to go to participate. Initially we were headed to the wrong school to get in. Through some digging we found the correct location. Which may be too much effort for some. Happy caucusing!
Snort.
Nimroda doesn’t do strategy.
She’s a Deep State tool.
This is pure Nikki Sabotage at this point.
She’s just there to damage Trump and thecGOP at this point.
Judging by her talk yesterday, she isn’t going the Bush route and temper her attacks. My feeling is that Trump is different than Reagan in that he would never put Haley on his ticket as Reagan put Bush on.
Haley should take option one, and do it this week.
There are only so many "open" slots in the media for crazed Republicans with TDS, Cheney hasn't landed anything.
Short of Trump picking her for VP (which would be a huge mistake), she has no political future, so she might as well rake in the money now. Maybe has a future as a political commentator on MSNBC or FNC.
The wealthy Democratic donors will decide Nikki’s fate.
Some rats have started leaving the sinking ship already.
She has some big fundraisers in the next couple of weeks.
Either she will get the money she needs or she will not.
Indeed, that will be determinitive.
Greatest position for her, ambassador to Greenland
