PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- The Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party has resigned amid a growing number of calls to step down after a British tabloid released clips of him reportedly trying to “bribe” former gubernatorial candidate and TV news anchor Kari Lake to not run for Senate.
The verified audio recording obtained by the Daily Mail reveals party chair Jeff DeWit asking Lake to “Just say, is there a number at which,” that appears to signify Lake to essentially “name her price.” Lake is heard in the audio tape taking offense to the remark, stating, “I can be bought? That’s what it’s about.” The clip continues with DeWit saying: “You can take a pause for a couple of years. You can go right back to what you’re doing.” To which Lake replies, “This is not about money, it’s about our country.”
DeWit said in a statement announcing his exit that the tape was “selectively edited” and used in a “deceptive” way. He claims that despite the conversation appearing against Lake, she was actually employed by him in DeWit’s private company. DeWit claims since that conversation, that Lake has been on a “mission to destroy” him.
“I said things I regret, but I realize when hearing Lake’s recording that I was set up. I believe she orchestrated this entire situation to have control over the state party,” the statement read in part. The decision to step down on Wednesday was part of an “ultimateum,” DeWit said, adding that the Lake campaign threatened the release of a “more damaging” recording, audio which he says he is unsure of what it continues.
Dewit is a corrupt POS. Good riddance.
This incident happened last year. I wonder why all of the sudden it was released? Makes me think Kari got another threat of some kind and is using this as leverage.
All Lake has to do is release a copy of the recording. It is very easy to check it for editing. No edits present and its back in DeWitts court to explain!
I guarantee he got a call from the people “out East” and was told to resign. NOW.
That phone call sounds very Jussie Smollett to me.
I'm not saying that DeWit should have stood his ground; I'm just pointing out how the parties handle adversity. I'll also point out how much more severe the Democrat scandals are versus the Republicans, and yet the Republicans submit at the first opportunity while the Democrats refuse to acquiesce and drag things out for as long as possible.

DeWit was going to take out a serious Trump ally, an up and coming Arizona politician seeking a Senate seat, and after the epic fraud against Trump in the 2020 Arizona election, but DeWit says he was not going to be taken care of or paid for this?

When Kari runs, do you think the AZ GOP will adequately fund her? I doubt it! Even voting as hard as you can won’t make up for it if there’s no money for ads. And that’s if the ballots are counted! The Secretary of State of AZ is a Dim!!!! It’s very discouraging!
Just the fact the corrupt GOP in Arizona and “Back east” were willing to bribe Lake with big money to get rid of her, only means Kari Lake is THE person who needs to be elected.

DeWit needs to explain his claims in sentences one and two. Sentence three, is pretty obvious — after he treated her like a political whore, no doubt she has been on a mission to destroy him. Good on her.

Several details are curious and perhaps telling: The cryptic and unspecific talk about unnamed people back east, the NASA lapel pin bragging he was probably a Fed employee earlier in his career, the recklessness of the approach.
It all smacks of a DOJ/FBI attempt to enlist a former federal employee as a CI, to dangle the bait and then if she says or does anything other than a flat refusal, perp-walk her and arrest her for corruption, soliciting a bribe, taking a bribe, etc. The deep state affiliated crime families (Bushes, Clintons, Bidens, Obamas, etc) get the DOJ/FBI to do their dirty work.
Accusing Kari of taking money is better than actually giving her money in many ways. There is no money paid to enemys, and no money trail back from the victim that would threaten them. For another, Nazi propaganda 101, they always want to accuse the victim of what they are doing so when/if they are exposed of having committed the same crime, the public has been innoculated and skeptical/dismissive. It’s cheaper and you don’t have to worry about the target going to law enforcement. Their intermediary is a cut-out, as in this case, he won’t admit he was working for them. Even if she turned the tables, set them up and proved they were to be running this, the FBI/DOJ would just say “we had credible reports you were for sale, you passed our little test”.
So he instantly plays the Victim Card and accuses Kari of being the evil-doer!
This Slime-Ball has all the makings of a top notch democrat!
