Oakland's only In-N-Out to permanently close

Oakland’s only In-N-Out will serve its last double-double on March 24 after more than 18 years in operation at 8300 Oakport Street, the burger restaurant’s chief operating officer Denny Warnick confirmed with SFGATE in an emailed statement Sunday.

Warnick described the store as “busy and profitable” for the company, and drive-thru lines during the dinner rush often stretched all the way out into neighboring parking lots. However, he cited “ongoing issues with crime” as the reason for the closure.

“Despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions, our Customers and Associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies,” Warnick wrote in the statement, which was first reported by KGO. “...Our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our Customers and Associates – we cannot ask them to visit or work in an unsafe environment.”

The restaurant is just over two miles away from Oakland International Airport, where rental car companies have recently cautioned customers returning vehicles to watch their belongings and avoid filling up on gas at stations in the immediate vicinity. Last week, Oakland police told SFGATE that 271 auto burglaries occurred at the Shell gas station on 285 Hegenberger Road in 2023 along with 15 robberies and five instances of vehicle theft.

[Keep voting for those Dems, Oakland.

It’s going great.]

Hope the thugs enjoy their food deserts. Well-earned.

Good for Warnick! Until businesses STATE THE OBVIOUS, they’re just enabling more and more crime, as people are often confused when they hear crap like “we closed the Oakland location as we found the ‘economic balance’ was not necessarily working in our favor”.

Enough of that shit. If the locals vote to have runaway crime, let them know that In-and-Out wants nothing to do with that and tell it to their faces.

If the Soros DA wouldn’t be immediately releasing these cretins, it would one of the simplest stings to set up.

Why wait until March 24th? Close now as it will only get worse.

It has always been bad in one way or another. I was stationed there in the early 80s and it was simply unsafe to go through the town at night via the buses and walking to get to and from the naval base.

California is unfriendly to businesses and tourist.

The clueless in Sacramento sit around and wonder why the flow of money into Sacramento is drying up not realizing that it is their soft on crime, high taxes, and burdensome regulations are driving people and businesses out of California.

My wife grew up on Doolittle! They moved the Mother’s factory years ago to Canada and Ohio, I believe after being bought out.

This is why every city run by Liberal Democrats will crumble. Pardon the pun.

They live in the skeleton of the 20th Century civilization now long gone into the suburbs or out of CA altogether. Like us. Left in 2020.

It is still busy with their own lane. My son visited our old town of Danville a few weeks ago. Still the teen hangout.

Miss CA. TX is sane but ugly and flat. I guess I chose America over Marxism but some days I miss my old life.

And here I thought no one would have heard of this out of the way, under a freeway place called Doolittle St.
I’m guessing it’s named after an admiral and not a doctor.

No Walgreen’s, no Starbuck’s, and now no Double-Doubles! Oh, not to mention no Raiders or As. What is to become of Oakland? It is truly approaching the old definition of ‘there is no there there’.

Crime waves in Oakland (CA) and Oak Brook.(IL). The Whole Foods in Oakland used to have a historic photo about Oakland in Pittsburgh. Of course, most in Cali don’t know the difference between Pittsburg and Pittsburgh.
