Tacoma’s Police Chief Avery Moore is a bad politician.
A decent high school student could have written a response that kept his rank and file and the activist community relatively mollified.
Chief Moore is incapable of that decency, honesty, moral clarity, and political astuteness.
I’d like to see how mutiny’s work where people get fired but no one walks the literal plank. There would be plenty of showing-the-door before it gets out of hand. Then there’s gotta be more than a few that would stand up for the chief, black officers in particular. What keeps everyone in place is their home mortgages. They will go along to get along while everything deteriorates. The chief is scared. So are the angry officers. The officers know their lives are at risk even without all the turmoil.
My favorite comparison would be a President Hillary in charge with a 60 seat GOP senate and house majority. Make that 67 seats. There’s still be squishes.
